I see the logic in your analogy, but it doesn't really work. obviously a wild animal is vastly different in temperment than a tame one that has been trained. But growing up in an area that reaches ungodly temperatures and presumably training, fighting, and living day to day life in such an environment should make one less vulnerable to those conditions. Is it the be all end all? No. But heat stroke isn't something that should have decided his fate in Zaire or Puerto Rico.
Yeah, but you can't in reality totally separate stamina and economical technic. Economy is one of the reasons that people with good stamina have good stamina. If economical Boxer X has more stamina than uneconomical Boxer Y, Boxer X has more stamina than Boxer Y, even if Boxer X would have no more stamina than Boxer Y if he were as uneconomical as Boxer Y.
Well, I suppose it comes down to how you want to define 'stamina'? Is stamina how much activity you can engage in before tiring? or is stamina the ability to get through a boxing contest with minimal tiring? If it's the later definition, then economy is a constituent of stamina.
That doesn't even make sense..the point is if your strategy is to overwhelm your opponent and keep them pinned against the ropes with a high volume of power shots to their arms and body, you better make sure you have the physical conditioning to pull it off in any environment. Happening once we can maybe look past, but twice in the prime of his career, you have to call it for what it is. It's not like he wasn't fatiguing against Lyle and Peralta either, those fights weren't in the tropics.
Any version of George including 2014 can hold up a hoop and wield a disciplinary chair with the best of 'em. :bart If you were a lion, would you be giving sass faced with such a menace? I think not.
By the way, not for nothing, but the phrase "a shitty lion tamer" does form an anagram of "stamina" - plus some leftover letters. (which form "Hitler toy"...) Just saying. :think
Funny you should mention that because Foreman has a little known amateur win over Hitler in Germany, no easy task at all. Had they met as pros, I think the outcome may have been different. Being a vegetarian, Hitler's stamina and elusive defense would secure a win in deep water.
