With that the fight is irrelevant. Your saying they should make Chavez drain and then not allow him to fully rehydrate...

 

I like the Khazak by KO over Jr. Jr. may have a size advantage over Golovkin but it will be a smaller size advantage that he is accustomed to having and he struggled against those smaller opponents. Also, he will be facing a genuine puncher which is something he has been careful to minimize.

 

GGG moves up to Super Middleweight to fight a Lt. Heavyweight.

 

Totally agree with your analysis of how the fight will go.

Chavez is battle tested and even when he's losing widely like against Martinez he still came back and nearly won.

GGG is still an unknown quantity, i think his easy fights will hurt him in this fight as going from someone like Adama or Stevens to someone like Chavez jr is a huge jump in size, stength and skills.

At 168lbs and with JCC jr rehydrating 20lbs and coming into the ring at around 190lbs i can only see one winner and thats JCC jr by KO in the 10 or 11th rd.

 

And yet people want a former featherweight to step up to 160?

Chavez couldnt stop or even drop blown up Vera in 2 tries. Going the distance is the norm for him even vs fringe contenders

 

Chavez at 168 does have an advantage but I just don't see a stop in his favor happening at all. He doesn't have the tools to KO someone like Golovkin because sheer strength won't do it alone, or he'd have more than 2 stoppages in his last 9 fights. Technically speaking, Golovkin has all the advantages and if push comes to shove, will be much better to adapt. As I've said before, Chavez has a granite chin, but orbital bones are a much different story. There's only so many shots they can take before they start to give. I'm in no way saying it's going to be a walk in the park but Golovkin's offensive arsenal will be too much. I especially see Gennady's uppercut's being a significant factor- that combined with his ability to throw the uppercut then dig to the body on either side.

Of course Nay_Sayer will say the July fight should have been against Ward and not Jr. He'll say GGG should have gone to 168 and in his first fight at 168 fought Ward, then and only then would we know GGG is legit. It's absurd, but that's how people like him think. No logic or reason, just emotion and prejudice. Nay_Sayer will always have something bad to say about GGG. Before the fight, he says Jr is going to KO the hype job, GGG. After the GGG win, he will say Jr. is a shot fighter, so the win is meaningless. GGG can't win with people like that because at the end of the day, it's prejudice guiding their actions, not reason and objectivity. :huh

I really hope they get this fight finalized. My only issue with the fight is: it's not for a belt or anything. It's really just an "exhibition fight," but it should be a good one. I'd definitely buy this one over the boring Mayweather/Maidana fight... even though I'll probably buy it too because the card as a whole should be fun.

 

GGG is in for hell. Props to both guys for trying to make this fight.

Exactly. JCC will test him and GGG isn't hard to find. JCC can stand up to his attack and by the late rounds will start to turn it up. This is a very dangerous fight for GGG. I give GGG props for taking this fight he's finally stepped up.

 

Well, lets look @ the facts.

Whenever Ward's name comes up the Triple Duck camp goes on about how they need to clean up 160 before moving to 168. But it now seems they'll make an exception for Baby Chavez.

If this fight gets made @ 168lbs - and I have my doubts that Triple Duck would dare to step in the ring with Chavez - then there will be no reason to excuse Triple Duck for ducking Ward. Period, end of...

 

GGG on points. Even with the size advantage he has, Chavez will struggle badly against a superior opponent. Afterwards, he'll say he didn't have a good camp, drained himself and should really be fighting at 175.

Jr has an excellent chin, so I think he'll be able to take solace in stopping Golovkin's ko streak.
