Toney would've made him look like a chump.

Toney was definitely suicide in his prime. Well.....a fully prepared Prime James Toney I should say. He was infamous for NOT taking his training seriously as we all know. So just the levels he reached giving the bare minimum with regards to his preparation speaks volumes to just how natural a fighter James really was. He had the best natural instincts that I've ever seen in a boxer. He was a pure boxer with a really mean streak that also helped compensate for his lack of dedication to conditioning his body for the professional level of boxing.

Roy was an extreme case of an abundance of athletic ability and raw talent. He was so fast...so explosive and had incredible reflexes that he was able to make mistakes in the ring and still make his opponents pay dearly. Toney is by far a much better technician and tactician as it relates to the sweet science.

this is probably true, Benn would be hard pressed to hurt a focussed Toney. Nige's bet chance is stoppage, cant see that happening v Iron chin Jammy.

Dog lover Gerald Mac was supposed to take him apart, the guy who brutalised Julian Jackson twice, we know what happened there. Talking about Toney dealing with Benn "with ease" is total bull. He'd maybe win, but he'd have no easy nights sleep after it.

yep, it would be no easy night, especially when Benn initially, and then finally traps Tone on the ropes and unleashes hell, yet I do think Toney's silky skills would make Nige look pretty bad for most of the night. Benn will simply be swinging at air a lot whilst getting countered each time, but Toney still has to soak up seven levels of napalm when he does gets caught. Ultimately, Toney is probably too tough and defensive to be stopped by even Benn, by which time James should have an unanimous lead.

Yep, he wore Nunn down with body shots in that fight. It was not a lucky punch.Nunn was only ahead a couple points at the time of stoppage.

Eubank is all over the place.... One day he beats these them no problem, the next he praises them to no end, and says that facing them in their primes would be suicide.

joe knew this too, that's why he waited till roy was 39.

obviously joe aged too in that time but he was simply waiting for a window of shottortunity. He couldn't STOP himself from ageing but he could keep an eye on how faded jones and pounce when the guy was shot2****.

He's too much of a gentleman to say bad things about any fighter, he always praises other boxers. Some people look at it as evidence he wasn't great but it's just his style and it's a nice change from other boxers puffing out their chest saying they'll destroy anyone at any weight class of any era.

They would have competed and Joney would have kocked their asses out, cold.
Back then Toney was a beast. Not the defensive fighter you've seen in his last few years.
Brits didn't want to take that kind of ass whupping so they did what they do, duck.

Ain't no fighter in England, only bums!
