Im not talking about punching power, im talking about the perfect punch thats thrown at the perfect time that knocks a guy out Few examples : Marquez - Pacquiao 4 Williams - Martinez 2 Pacquiao - Hatton ( it has to be Duran-Hearns for me based on the one punch shock factor, hatton-pac was less shocking due to hatton touching the canvas twice before the knockout and even then Hatton was still conscious despite having no clue where he was) so fight fans, whats your perfect punch?
Can't think of anything more ATG than JMM - Pac 4, TBH. Thing with Duran - Hearns is there was some sort of build up to the moment when Hearns found that sweet spot and downed Duran. It was simply all too surreal when JMM landed that brutal right.
i guess if your looking for the drama, and Marquez did shock the world but im going with Hearns purely because you can heart that shot and the way Duran crumpled to the floor scared me a little and the way his head moved from the punch . . . . . i still cringe when i see it (and i just rewatched it 2 seconds ago while writing this) Also a lot of people dont tend to mention the first knockdown in the fight because a lot of pacquiao fans call it a lucky punch
It wasn't a knock-out punch, but a favourite in terms of timing and situational awareness was Floyd vs Hatton. The check-hook to an onrushing Hatton that caused him to smack into the ring-post. Beautiful..... like something out of a zen parable - taking advantage of the opponent's impetuousness and using their momentum against them.
Oh yeah, the way Duran kinda shut down for a second then hit the floor like a sack of potatoes as Hearns was backing up was scary. And it doesn't help that I'm a huge Duran fan too. With JMM, personally I found the KD punch more picture perfect, especially with how he baited Pac with body punches before delivering the first KD of Pac in almost 10 years. You can see that Pac wasn't expecting a head punch at all. The KO however was simply too.. dramatic. Everything about it from the tide of the match to all the highly disputed matches before. It was redemption, and it was great. JMM himself wasn't able to believe it instantly if you watch his reaction. He went to a corner looking aptly at Pac, head still buried on the floor, almost as if saying "don't get up! don't get up!" It was not until when Bayless waved his hand before he went ahead and celebrated.
