That's where your prediction completely breaks down, you're basing everything off the Salido fight. Lomachenko always fights differently depending on the opponent and GRJ is very different to Salido.
Gary's defence to the body is very poor, even Tomayo troubled him with body shots because his defence consists of covering up and standing stiff. We know nothing about GRJ's beard, because we haven't seen him against a puncher or even a fringe contender.
Gary has a one dimensional jab, always the same tempo and rhythm. It's one of his biggest weaknesses as it makes him highly predictable and easy to time.
Lomachenko jabs a lot mostly as a range finder to land his power shots.
Usually Lomachenko goes to the body a lot and is primarily an inside fighter, against Salido was the first time I've ever seen him hold on the inside. I'm not sure whether it was the low blows or an attempt at controlling the pace/nullifying the larger guy but you won't see that again, especially not against GRJ.
I'm telling you, this fight won't be anywhere near close.

Someone please explain to me how Loma is on another level... Did anyone besides me watch the Salido fight at all? Someone with other worldly skills doesn't get manhandled by a one dimensional straight forward brawler who is 33 and shop worn.

Loma's one win is better than any of Russell's. That is how bad he has been coddled.

Great fight. I'm going with Lomachenko since he has the experience advantage (srs. One fight with Salido > Russell's entire career). Winner should get Rigo.

Don't think either will be quite ready for Rigo still.

:deal The Salido fight was extremely out of character for Lomachenko (and it didn't do him any favors with fan perception). I expected the whole fight to go like the last few rounds did, with both guys scrapping away on the inside and Lomachenko getting the better of it. IMO it comes down to Lomachenko not knowing if he could push his normal dynamic pace for 12 rounds. Now he has an idea of the pacing of a fight, and I think he won't make that mistake twice.

Lomachenko fought pretty much an awful fight against Salido, but with the experience, weight, and furious nutpunching advantages all on Salido's side, I guess he gets a pass.

Who is hating on Gary? I expect both fighters to dominate the FW ranks in the next couple of years.

So what if Lomo has had only two fights? Both opponents were superior to anything on Gary's resume.

Moreover it's not rocket science to match up the their relative strengths and weaknesses.

Now run along and chastise ESB's resident Black Panthers for deriding Lomo as a bum... after all, he's only had two fights, right?? :hi:

This would be one helluva fight. I will say though I'd be even more elated for this fight to go down for the sole purpose that it would signify and end to the cold war.

It would be a beautiful thing if the 2 biggest promotional companies in boxing started to do business together again. There's too many great hypothetical matchups that are being missed out from these 2 companies not speaking to one another. It's caused such a black eye for the sport.

As for the fight itself, it's hard for me to pick a clear cut winner. Obviously Gary hasn't taken on anyone significant since turning pro, but he does have a very good skillset and really fast hands. It would be an excellent matchup between 2 skilled fighters.
