    Really?

How do you on national TV as a professional boxer admit to that ? :huh

I like how Atlas quickly set him straight..

That's not the worse part of it. He said he hated running and used to never do it. He's just recently started doing it and is at 2.5 miles now per day

2.5 miles a day ain't bad. And like the guy above me said, you really shouldn't run every day... especially at his weight.

Yeah, some guys just use different methods to build stamina. Saoul Mamby said that rope work was the best way to build stamina, and he went 15 at a fast clip on more than one occasion.

To be great he should do more road work,it's clear he needs to be running at least 3-4 minimum .

Teofilo Stevenson did wind sprints. But he was fighting only 3 rounds. I think a combo of wind sprints -3-4x a week and longer runs - once or twice a week is the best combo. I base that only on pure conjecture.

running is a funny subject. If he sprinted those kind of miles each day he would be be in the Olympics.

If it was a slow paced jog we are talking about,it wont help him much to shed weight, or build his stamina up to any real benefit.

If he is varying his running speeds along the way, and chooses to incoroprate some steep uphill sprints, and/or run up long steep stairways ,then you could say he is putting in a big effort eh?

Who cares, a boxer doesn't need to run anyway. He should be worrying about what he's eating and train boxing.

After the first mile, he stops at Taco Bell, then counts the mile home as the second mile. The other half mile comes from his trips to his bathroom.

yes it would. You lose weight by burning more calories than you consume. If he ran, he'd be burning more calories.

I wonder if cyclists run to get fit for cycling? I wonder if rowers cycle to get fit for rowing? Boxing is so backwards, still stuck in the infantile/uneducated mindset that you should run to get fit. Fitness is very specific, it's foolish to try and get fit in a different sport to get in shape for your sport.
