A boxer doesn't have to run. I know some guys who just do sprint work. High level intensity stuff.

    And i regards to chris.

2.5 miles a day is pathetic for a boxer. I am sorry but IMO road work is greatly important in boxing training.

As his body shows, he doesn't train, eat, or live like a boxer should.

No its not his genetics... its his poor work ethic.

If he started running a minimum 7 miles a day (Not every day) and also ate right he would be more of a force. He needs to either live the life of a boxer, or not be a boxer.

Roadwork is overrated regardless. The fact that he's generally lazy is the bigger issue.

You know I meant long distance running.
But yea I agree, boxer needs long distance cardio work whether it's long runs or something else. It helps recovery time.

You didn't specify so i had no idea.

Running is highly important to a boxer be it sprint work or long distance. They go hand in hand. Personally i prefer a mixture of both long distance and Sprint work

I am 80% long distance runner 20% boxer and since i started combining boxing training with my long distance work my overall fitness has gone through the roof.

    I combine:

2 days of long distance roughly 8 miles
    2 Days boxing training
1 day football (soccer) or a Hill run
    2 days rest.

Since then i have knocked minutes off all of my road races, and perform better when sparing.

It pains me to see an athlete in one of the most serious sports going not take his training and lifestyle seriously.
