The journallists and broadcasters have no balls to tell it like it is. Dan Raefeal is a disgrace to boxing... all he does is tell us mostly what we already know, and repeat (over and over and over) his stupid shower pressure, toe, getting "glassed" and CJ Ross jokes. Brian Kenny...up until both him and Floyd were working for Shotime, at least tried to weasel something out of Floyd...now he kisses his a$$. Paulie... has said SOME blatantly honest things, but nut hugs when he has to. His recent Maidana comments are pure "company policy" and it's pathetic. I look forward to him writing a scathing tell all when he retires though.. The HBO announcers... enough said. I'll lump Sechbech in there too. Then you have the crazies like Teddy who never fails to look like a tinfoil hat salesman at every chance. This content is protected
Ummmmmmm.....you want honesty, then call it tinfoil hat..... WTF......Teddy tells it how he sees it....and aint afraid to hurt noones feelings. That is an honest voice in boxing. Also, Fat Dan for all his fats, I mean faults, doesnt have much of an agenda either, although, he is something of a fan boy.:think
Exactly. Apparently, 'honest voice in boxing' = 'saying things the OP likes and in the fashion the OP likes it'.
I think Ward is pretty much a straight shooter on HBO broadcasts. Unfortunately, he is not on staff for all the fights. Some people think he is boring, but I prefer the calm, intelligent style of commentary to the "BANG BANG BANG" style.
Because the people who have the loudest voices in the sport are the people who don't have the power to be 100% honest without it costing them their jobs. The play by play guys who will constantly twist things in favor of the house fighter are doing it for the paycheck. If they stray too far from the company line, there's a long list of yes men who'd be all too happy to replace them. It's the same way with what little is left of the mainstream boxing media. They want to stay on good terms with the biggest promoters.
Teddy blurts out whatever and usually in a lunatic manner. He screams corruption but doesn't take it further than that. He is also FAR from being open minded and is really inconsistent. I want a voice that actually gets down to the bottom of things and provides proof. Teddy can't even produce a simple email FFS.
Teddy has no problems keeping his mouth shut when it benefits him. Just because he's the loudest one in the room doesn't mean he's "keeping it real." There's only so much you can do as a commentator/journalist/etc. without stepping out of line and losing your job. But, really I don't have a problem with the Showtime crew, especially Paulie. I think Paulie does a great job, I don't agree with what he says 100% (nor should I or anyone else, everybody should think for themselves and form their own, unique opinion), but I think Paulie does a great job. I believe Paulie did a good job calling out the judges last week, while being a professional about it. You just can't scream and howl and act like an idiot. There's a way you can be outspoken, while still maintaining a professional demeanor.
Paulie is about as close as it gets. Bernstein is another one, though he clearly goes out of his way to remain neutral on most topics...which can be annoying at times.
Kellerman and Papa at HBO who once worked the HBO afterdark events were once the voice of reason like in this scene........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93FGqJiEkWo ......now however Kellerman does the primetime events and must abide by reading the script. Honest analyst in boxing are few and far between. If you want a more honest broadcast, though not perfect, showtime is much better than HBO.
You ain't looking for no honest voice, you looking for somebody to say **** according your point of view.
