You missed the context. Try reading next time. The original context was: someone said Sergio didn't have his first breakout fight until 35, so GGG having his first at 32 would be okay, to which freddy-wak replied that it wasn't okay because Sergio started later than GGG. We're talking about pro fights here, 32nd fight vs 35th, and Sergio started pros 3 years sooner not later. Amateur boxing has little to no baring on getting pro fights, therefore is meaningless in this context. If anything all those amateur fights made it harder for GGG to get meaningful pro fights because people knew what he could do and steered clear, so that makes it even further okay that GGG's first big fight is his 32nd vs Sergio's 35th. Try reading the thread next time. Context makes all the difference. Mmk?

Note: I'm not arguing when Sergio's first big fight was, that context of "35th" came from someone else.

he's turning 32 in 2 weeks, been pro for 8 years, and still hasn't fought no one worth mentioning....most fighters with his creds are eating up the competition within 3-4 years of turning pro....there's a reason they're taking ggg the slow route, you'll see come july....IF....I repeat....IF he signs....

No one in their right mind thinks Golovkin puts Chavez Jr down for the count. However, it's perfectly conceivable that he cuts and bruises Junior the same way he did Rosado. "Your son's gonna die man!"

Golovkin UD or late stoppage on cuts.

They're taking him the slow route to build him up, it's not hard to understand. He ain't American, he ain't Mexican, he ain't Puerto Rican. He's from another continent and needs maximum exposure before the big fights - they seem to think the 1+ million viewers he's now getting on regular HBO is enough for him to get a big fight, and that will be against the son of a legend.

Chavez Jr is losing this one Freddy, let's do an account bet provided the fight is signed.

So tired of seeing the "they go slow building him cause... they afraid" from people who have zero clue. Its like people remain willfully ignorant.

If you think he will lose, fine. Thats an opinion.

If you think he has not fought a "huge name" yet because they are afraid, you are being stupid. He was royally hosed by his old promoter, and then in litigation. He has only been with K2 for a bit over 2 years now, thats it. In that time frame he went from perennial ducked mandatory who could not get a fight worth having to being a HBO headliner, with purses and popularity rising to the point he can finally get bigger names to step into the ring.

Team GGG has not "gone slow". K2 has actually managed to move him pretty fast for someone who was a complete unknown living in Germany.

Whether you think he can beat X or not is irrelevant here. The fact is, at 160 he was screwed by promotional issues and an incompetent WBA - and numerous promoters like DiBella and Hearn have admitted they rate him too highly to risk fights without huge purses. But GGG was trying to make the fights.

It was Loeffler who contacted Arum to try and set up GGG/Chavez - per Arum. Whatever you think of GGG ability is your own opinion and everyone is entitled to that. But saying they have not tried to get bigger fights is blind hate that goes against a mountain of evidence.

Just take look at the sparring session of chavez vs ggg and u will realize the mental and style differences. Ggg by ko or alternatively UD ggg and chavez collapses in his dressing room after the fight

This is why casuals should stop over extending their boxing analysis skills. If you don't know the story behind this, go read the 100 other threads on the topic. Myself and countless others on these boards, including ESPN and other world-wide sports news groups, have documented the issues in detail. It's pointless repeating them.

Freddy is not a "casual". He just cares to hate on fans who hype fighters too much in his opinion, or fans who hate on Mexican fighters.

In this case we have a mix of both. That's why I'm pursuing an account bet with him provided the fight is signed, and it really is close to be signed right now going by the ESPN article on the matter.

Maybe because he was laid up in bed the day before and the fight was almost cancelled had GGG not insisted it go forward because he needed the HBO exposure. HBO released a short documentary on it weeks after the fight and other news organizations reported on it directly after the fight. Anyone who has had influenza knows it causes weakness and fatigue on a biophysical level. Boxing with that impediment has to suck.

Rosade has an interview on YT where he accuses Golovkin of using illegal handwraps.:-(

Also looks like Golovkin will beat Ward to PPV. Expect an avalanche of butthurt and vittreal from ward over this.

Yeah, Golovkin seems to be well on his way to being the A-side of Golovkin-Ward in 2015, if Golovkin's 2014/2015 go well for him. Unless, of course, Ward retires or either start losing and there is no fight.

...how "awesome" can this **** be?

As awesome as his neverending court battle with his own promoter, I bet.

Apparently in Ward's bible studies, it is acceptable to talk crap about a fighter/colleague the same week their father dies.

Ward really is a phony and his true bitter nature and persecution complex will be put on full display in the near future.
