He's more polished and has more experience even with only two fights. Loma just making it 12 rounds was a victory becuase I didn't give the kid a snow balls chance in hell to make it out of the ring with Salido......but with only one pro fight Loma almost beat a world champion. You failed to place this kids loss in the proper perspective. Had Loma been a 30 pro fight vet and lost to Salido it would have been a completely different situation but it wasn't. And Salido is very crafty kid. He's not the most skillful boxer in the world but he's tough, determined and has a lot of pro tricks he uses to great effect inside the ropes.

Because I'm referencing what GRJ sr. said in a previous interview and I'm connecting the dots. Some of us can put two and two together, others can't see beyond what's right in front of their face.

First of all, Lomachenko did not lose the fight with Salido. Salido's punches were mostly on the legs, balls, hips, etc., and the worst referee in boxing Laurence Cole was an idiot. It was Cole who cheated for Salido. Salido was not only landing on Lomachenko's legs, hips, balls, etc., Salido was consistently landing punches after the break. Salido held on for dear life after Lomachenko almost knocked Salido out, but again, Cole was there to help Salido, that fight should have been a disqualification for Salido. Russell is more of a boxer, will be an easier fight for Lomachenko because Russell is predictable. Lomachenko must make sure that Cole is not the damned referee. It would be good for Lomachenko if he had a good trainer along with his father, such as Roach, whatever, Lomachenko should beat Russell, probably by knockout!!!

    This fight is beyond stupid.

As a fight, it is really interesting and I'm curious to watch it (IF it happens. Won't hold my breath)... but neither deserve to be in it. Loma got to cut in line, but just lost and Gary hasn't fought anyone who will ever amount to anything in boxing. His resume is putrid.

Let's not pretend that any of these paper belts mean anything now. It's a good fight with plenty of unknown, as you say it is a very interesting fight. Lomachenko earned his ranking and then lost controversially to an opponent who didn't make weight. It wouldn't be right if Lomachenko didn't get another shot at the vacant title. He's certainly more worthy and a better fighter than the likes of Cruz. I've got no defence for GRJ getting a shot but I want to see what he can do against somebody who isn't a corpse.

The ring magazine article was pretty funny, hypocrisy at its best. Russell crying that it's unfair Lomochenko's getting a shot at the title because you should have to beat the #5 ranked and then the the #3 ranked. Gary you haven't beaten sh*t man! You're uncle Al bought you that title shot. Can't wait for this fight, hopefully Gary won't back out.

Loma's a good amateur but a bum Pro!

    Russell by TKO

Taking all sucka bets on this one. This is another Cooney Vs Holmes opportunity.

    They're really overushing Loma.

Let him fight a few bums and journeymen, build up a bit of experience and THEN throw him in with a title fight. His last match was proof he lacks the experience at the moment.

This is a big step down in class for Loma and an even bigger step up for Gary , against a 1-1 novice pro.

I agree that they were rushing Loma with the Salida title fight but that's why the Russell fight makes sense. It's a fight that isn't so aambitious for the blue chip prospect. For Gary it's a big step up which is what the boxing community has been demanding from this kid but I think Loma is to Russell what Salido was to Loma......but even more of a leap in terms of competition. The good thing about the Salido loss for Loma and his team was that they now have a better perspective in terms of where their guy is at this level.
