The problem with Floyd is that he simply can't throw fluid combinations, even when he's technically throwing combinations they are all single shots in succession and he has to reset after each one, it's not like when SRL throws combinations.

Don't forget that I said that if ever Lomachenko was going to be beaten it was going to be against Salido, as he had the worst possible style for him in his first 12 rounder. Don't forget that I said his only issue would be pacing. That's exactly what ended up happening during the fight, Lomachenko didn't throw enough and defended like a master until the last three rounds when he started fighting like he usually does, and showed that he was a class above.
Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story though :yep
See what happens with Lomachenko in the future and then come talk to me. You can't expect me to deny what I know about Lomachenko just because of the Salido fight. I had Lomachenko winning that fight anyway, like many others. Then you take into account the weight and ref disadvantage, and the fact that no other could or would try to do what Lomachenko did. And for the record I think Lomachenko would shut Floyd out at 126, Lomachenko is a level above and Floyd has a style that Lomachenko eats for breakfast.

Mayweather started throwing pot shots after he got older. He was only fighting the second half of his fights, then he started the pot shotting later. As fighters age they can't fight like they did in their twenties, their fitness isn't the same so the find way to conserve energy. Look at how Hopkins fights, it similar to Mayweathers style hitting and not being hit.

True, Floyd isn't fluid. His defence is separate from his offence, that's why he has to reset. He's ****ing great at it though.
There's people who genuinely believe Floyd is the most skilled boxer of all time. Ridiculous.

In my opinion Floyd at 126 would have beat Salido, and I would think you are talking about a much younger Floyd at 126 I believe would stop Lomachenko. You need to go back and look at more than just the Augustas fight, the Floyd that fights today is not the guy that fought in the lower weight classes. We will see just what Lomachenko has when he fights Russel.

The whole elephant standing in the room here is that it's pretty unlikely that Floyd would have been undefeated as he had to face all comers in his division like any regular (unprotected) beltholder.
There's always 'that one guy that has your number' in boxing, even if he's a much lesser fighter in the whole. And in many cases that 'one guy' is actually more than just the one.

Bad style matchups, awkwardness, raw power and relentlessness, volume punchers, bad timing for mandatory defences etc, all problems you normally have to face as 'the man'. Not to forget, even coming out of top against them can shorten your career significantly.

This is why Floyd will never be fully recognized. He just didn't go trough the trenches when on top.

Floyd even at welterweight couldn't stop Lomachenko at 126, that's nonsense. The Floyd who fought in the lower weight classes was a lot more entertaining than todays version but he was also much more vulnerable due to being more offense minded, his defining win there was against Corrales. Lomachenko would comfortably deal with that version of Floyd. I'd lean towards Floyd against Salido (if Salido made weight) but I'd pick Salido to easily stop Floyd if it was Floyd's 2nd pro contest and first 12 rounder.
We will see what Lomachenko has, I actually enjoy the way he's being written off after the Salido fight. He's going to blow some minds along the way and have them questioning what they really know about boxing. He'll demolish GRJ btw, bet the house on that.

You need to give him credit for the way he's managed his career, building the value of his brand and his zero but when it comes to the sport and his historical standing he's done himself no favours. He really needed that Pac victory on his record before JMM knocked him out, that was his ticket to at least being seriously considered among the ATG's. Floyd fans better hope that Canelo turns out to be something special.

What ended up happening was Lomachenko showed no confidence to let his hands go. He was timid and often didn't know what to do which would result in him clinching. He was roughed up for the entire fight. He did not show that he was a level above, he showed that he was capable of being competitive with a good fighter. That in no way makes him great nor elite, it simply means he can give 2nd tier fighters a good fight. And I'm sure you did have him winning, probably 10:2.
Lomachenko hasn't proved **** yet, he definitely hasn't shown that he's capable of eating Floyd for breakfast. You're just a foolish fanboy. Now you claim that everyone has wrote Loma off . Now it's see what happens in the future right? That's what we've been telling you, wait till he progresses, proves something, then claim he's goat . :hi:

Judging from your track record of failed bets (this one in particular being the biggest fail) I highly doubt you have anything of value worth betting, let alone a house :rofl

    Interesting analysis, well written, thanks.

I haven't seen that fight, and i don't think i will, my brain logged off the few times i tried to watch one of Floyd's fight, even the Cotto one.

But i have no doubts he's incredibly overrated. Take the shoulder roll, for example.

You have to literally just roll the shoulder and wait for your opponent to enter your range. Block what they throws, not difficult when you are using both your gloves and your back, and then back off. Just walk away from him. Whenever you feel like it, when you time your opponent after one attack, unleash the right straight to his face or an uppercut. Then, walk away.
Simple as that. If many boxers don't use it, is because it doesn't work against skilled opponents, and you don't have the luxury of avoid fighters and be considered p4p n1 if you aren't Void. Also, for many fighters it's simply too much embarrassing. A mexican, for example, would never spend half fight giving his back to an opponent and watching him from upside down.

A move that works only against shorter opponents or opponents with bad footwork, and they also must be orthodox fighters, or else it's all wrong, you should invert it but nobody has time to master an inverted shoulder roll. Floyd doesn't.

Floyd style consists in just jabbing and occasionally throwing a right straight, backing off after every single punch. It's not that skillfull or anything.
He just faces opponents that cannot work around that, or that "forget to throw the jab" (never forget lol).

Augustus was/is vastly under-rated. He was a very good fighter, and had he good management, he could have been a great.
    Augustus could box or brawl.
He gave Mayweather a great fight and boxed him.
He gave Micky Ward a great fight and out brawler him.
He was much too often the victim of fixed judging. many of the losses on his record he actually won. He won the fight with Ward but got robbed as he had in many of his other questionable losses.
Mayweather has nothing to be ashamed about in his fight with Augustus. Emmanual would have very likely out boxed Saul Alverez and Lara too.

Most of Floyd's fans don't actually know anything about Mr. Mayweather.
