I see it with Golovkin, his footwork is beautiful and helps keep him out of harms way, but Kovalev doesnt have the same speed or reflexes and looks very open to counter punches in every fight i've seen him in. He also has a big question mark over his chin, whereas GGG looks to have a solid beard

A solid beard? THE MAN TOOK FLUSH LEFT HOOKS, AND RIGHT HANDS FROM CURTIS STEVENS WITHOUT FLINCHING! ARGUABLY THE HARDEST BANGER IN THE 160 WEIGHT CLASS! :ko

To rate Golovkin's chin as solid is a grievous understatement. His chin is cast iron. In and out. That's why I rate Golovkin so ahead of the prior 160 ATG's. His combination of chin, power, boxing acumen, and aggressiveness is what sets him so far apart from his contemporaries.

He doesn't have an aura of mystique, and invisibility for no reason. Golovkin is the real deal.

I don't quite see the same qualities in Kovalev, but his defense is definitely above average, especially with the style he fights in.

Are you questioning the power of Stevens at Middleweight?

Are you questioning whether Golovkin took those hits without being damages in the slightest bit?

Are you questioning his amateur background.

The proof is in the pudding.

What'll you say when Chavez gets decisioned, or possibly TKO'd late in the fight? This fight will even take place at 168.

It's not even a presumptuous statement to make. If he easily dispatches of Chavez, and then Sergio (Sergio will make easy work of that crybaby drama queen Cotto in June :boxer) then there shouldn't be that many question marks about his ability to cope with the challenges that a Gerald McClellan, or even a Marvin Hagler will bring. He might, or might not beat a prime Hagler, but I'm sure he'd beat people like Eubank, G-Man, The Hawk, and other great middleweights.

His tenure at this weight will prove so. If he can at least TKO Chavez in June, he will have answered all questions pertaining to his power punching capabilities.

I think he will. Even some of Vera's shots had some of an effect, and Golovkin is without question the much more devastating puncher.

Kovalev seems to be a killer but lets be honest. Like Wilder he has not fought anyone. And like Wilder he has been floored with head gear on. The same people like farmboxer bashing Wilder is prasing Kovalev. I think that speaks for itself. RACE

There might inclinations to root for a guy based off of his racial background, but who really cares? :conf

Everyone has some vested interest in seeing someone of similar ethnic, racial, or national background succeed in the endeavors they partake in. There's wrong, immoral, or not normal with doing so. Let people be proud of their own succeeding and you be proud of your own.
