Some fighters are sturdier at higher weights. Less drainage, stronger legs, whatever.

Roger took some bombs in the Brazier fight and didn't go down. Even at 130, Chavez was more of a wear-you-down type guy than a big bomber. Chavez badly hurt Mayweather with one shot at 130, he hit him with all kinds of shots at 140 and Mayweather stayed on his feet.

How many of these southpaws have beat him? And how many of these southpaws have been KTFO? Discuss.

I never subscribed to the glass chin non sense, all boxers with winning records have excellent chins. However, Iron chins do exist, glass chins don't make it into rankings, all ranked boxers are in the 1% minority of humans who can take a punch and keep on going. Most humans DKSAB and panic when jabbed on the lips or nose, let alone getting caught by a hook

Calling Roger chin glass, shows ppl who DKSAB :deal

Really, the majority of guys toward the top of the P4P rankings have already slowed down. Great fighters (athletes in general) adapt to the decline in physical skills, explosiveness and speed, etc...by making up for it in other areas.

Mayweather was already blessed with great physical gifts, he's very skilled, intelligent, & technically sound, doesn't abuse his body, so there's not a big noticeable drop off in his performance.

Plus it's not like it's a strong era for talent. Canelo Alvarez was considered by many the top 154 lb fighter. Victor Ortiz was considered #3 at 147 when they fought....by beating Andre Berto.

A pretty dreadful era, so no wonder an actually great fighter like Mayweather can beat them with relative ease, or a guy pushing 50 like B-Hop is competing at the highest level in his division.

So you and that boxing guy think the fight would have been different if Alvarez weighed 2 more pounds the day before the fight?

Pacquiao in 2010, or even 2011 or 2012.

I would have been willing to forgive some of the other fights that didn't get made, especially since before 2007, Floyd wasn't in the "driver's seat", so to speak. He wasn't the big star selling a million PPVs. Now he was the leverage to get the fights he wants, there was one of them that would have silenced MOST (not all of course) of the critics, but he, Manny, and Arum screwed the fans. An absolute disgrace to the sport.

A Cotto fight in 2008 would have been great. Floyd didn't push for it, neither did Cotto. I really don't think the fight would have been much different than their 2012 fight, but at least it would have been an undefeated Cotto at 147, where both Floyd & Cotto were better at than 154.
