I rate Callum, top talent no question about it... but comments like this are getting a bit carried away.

not really, he is blowing away everyone and looking good doing it and is by far the best prospect this country has forget campbell and aj. if It wasn't for bad judging callum would have gone the Olympics. he holds a wbc international title already and is on the fast track to bigger and better things. rocky is still messing around commonwealth level

Good fight this. To be honest it should have happened on the Liverpool bill the other week, but boxing is so back to front these days it's unbelievable.

Anyway back to Fielding-P.Smith. I think Paul would win, but i wouldn't be surprised if Rocky wins it either because Fielding has improved in the last 18 months. His last performance wasn't good, but the pull outs didn't help and the fact he was badly advised to come in so heavy.

I just think Smith's experience and class would tell and he would be able to land big shots on Fielding's face and body and mind Smith is a bit of a banger, so I don't know how Fielding would be able to take it.

Not just that, did you see the state of his hands after the fight? Seen a pic, both hands were ****ed.

He's a big ticket seller in Liverpool, think it was 1,000+ tickets he'd sold so as it was said in the after-fight interview he didn't want to let people down.... but fighting with knackered hands when you have big opportunities on the horizon is a massive gamble.

That said, getting 12 rounds under his belt after blowing fighters away in his last few fights will have done him some good.

Yer mate, Rocky's hand was ****ed before the fight but didnt want to pull out, mainly due to the fights that had already pulled out on the card.
I think also he would have looked a **** as he gave Dodson stick for pulling out

People forget was a great amateur Smith was, you can tell he has a good boxing brain from the way he commentates - he obviously knows his stuff.

I think a combination of poor promoters/trainers/injury had meant he hasn't yet reached the potential he showed during his early career.

Since joining up with Joe Gallagher you can see he has come on leaps and bounds and is back to boxing well, it's only a bad hand injury that has slowed him down.

He rocked Groves in the first round and was caught flush with a great shot in the second (whether Groves meant it or not?) someone should have got up from that but he did.

He made easy work of dodgson who has been in with good fighers himself, when previously they fought a 12 round war.

His last fight was just a keep ticking over and pay the bills fight, so can't really judge him on that.

Smith has paid his dues and put the years into the sport, who would begrudge him a pay day and a shot at the title? he has more to lose than gain fighting Feilding, whereas Fielding has it all to gain and nothing to lose!

I think Smith should be looking at a European or get a shot at Abraham.

Rocky should be looking at Callum or Bulligioni or even someone like Brian Magee to see where he's at.

    Imagine this scenario:

    Froch/Groves - IBF/WBA Champ
    Degale - WBC Champ
    Smith - WBO Champ

Smith vacates citing Rocky "can't make the weight" and runs as fast as he can towards anyone who is no one or over the hill

Rocky fights somebody who isn't Callum Smith and wins the title, only to do the same as Paul Smith and vacates when the board order Fielding vs Smith (Callum) :D

    Spoken like a true scouser

Im one too, just so you know. Paul Smith hasn't gotten near the level he was at ama, as an ama he was one if the best in the world. Thats a) a testament to him and or b) it underscores how bad ama boxing is, in comparison to the pro game.

Paul waffles shite, very often disrespects and dismisses fellow pro's and is deluded about many things, none more than his own ability.

Rocky is too big and strong for Paul and by an large he's a better fighter (more effective; all things considered). He'd obliterate him inside the distance.

Agreed, had to laugh at his claim him or his brother would of ko'd adamu in 2-3 rounds lol considering adamu's only been stopped once and has losses to froch & chilemba on points. Groves being the only guy to stop him.
Smith ain't a bad fighter but lets be honest his best win is probably dodson & dodson is an 'ok' fighter at best.

No, I would say Smith's best win was against Tony Quigley.
