You don't get it. You would if you watched interviews with Pascal, interviews with Stevenson going back to last year. It's not about a fight between the two, it's about who's The Man in town.

Seems like a good way to decide "who's The Man in town" would be to fight each other. Is Stevenson v Fonfara a bigger "money" fight in Canada than Stevenson v Pascal?

Honestly I have been starting to think that way of thinking is outmoded. It worked when it went more or less without saying, that to be the champ and stay the champ you had to keep fighting tough fights.

Now that boxing is effectively split into two "leagues" , seems like in some cases being lineal champ is equivelant to being AFC or NFC champ at best... but theres no Super Bowl.

If Stevenson bails to SHO and doesnt fight Kovalev, Kovalev becomes AFC champ (HBO) and if Stevenson wins he becomes NFC champ (SHO/Haymon)... but overall champ spot is vacant.

Perceptions need to adjust to reality.
