I Hate Sugar Ray Leonard - come here if you also want to hate

It was a tightly contested fight. I gave it to Duran by around three points. Nearly every round was closely contested,nonetheless. Still my favourite fight of the eighties.

overrated as a fighter both by the press N his fans who overblow everything he did. think about it, do great fighters need so many concessions? dont think any fighter required so many from his opponents. consessioned his way out of fights with Marvin Hagler N Aaron Pryor, thru his atty Mike Trainer who devised sophisticated series of conditions to keep Marvelous Marv out of a fight greatly pleasing the game playing ***** Leonard until suddenly turning brave in 1986 and thereafter, hags never had any more problems securing a match. used less crude way to keep Pryor out, offering an insulting 500 k take it or leave it purse

then there was the retirement bask where he told Hags & the Petronellis it would be in their best interests to make the trip. then in front of the audience with Hags standing right next to him, bailed out like the PU**Y-less than a man -waste of life he really is, later saying "well, I didnt really know how I would feel!"

then why'd you tell Hags to show up u little *****! and put on a big ****in specatacle!

finally met his match in a young Norris who destroyed him one N for all with no dispute in the scoring

top ten? I wouldnt put him in my top 100

 

I was never a fan but he was a top 10 welter of all time..great fights v hearns and duran.
if he'd have fought a peak hagler he'd have been chinned no problem .very very clever in making the light heavy fight against lalonde at 168lbs.

 

:good.I was going to say the 77-82 version of SRL was classic.The only two things I have against Ray are the abovementioned statements in color.

 

All that ridiculous shaking and jiving he did in the second Duran fight made me a hater for life. It was an absolutely mockery of boxing and of a great champion in Duran. I was glad when he got his **** kicked in in his 234th and final comeback, hahaha.

I see your point but,on the other side of the coin,what did you think of Duran's behaviour towards Leonard prior to their first fight ? Both men took gamesmanship to the brink,if you like

That's not clever, that's called marketing clout. Mayweather does the same thing and it's annoying as hell because it artificially inflates their accomplishments.
