If he were Chinese, Japanese, or South Korean he'd probably be an even bigger star in Asia.

    @Nonito Smoak

Marquez is another one, I'm actually a fan but he's made some claims as of late about having only one true defeat, and was robbed in all his other loses, and while it may not diminish his boxing resume, it does stain him a little in terms of sportsmanship. Time usually heals most wounds but I guess in Hagler's case that does not apply, not saying his boxing resume gets tarnished, but you just expect fighters who are considered ATG's to have a different stance, than the common critique or fan. Take Leonard for instance, he was asked about Mayweather, and his response was "Mayweather could have competed in any era". Now of course Leonard did say he would beat Mayweather, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, because many fans and boxing historians would agree with him, but he kept it respectful. Hagler, while it may be just his opinion, comes off more as a common fan with no real insight about what he's saying.

All of boxing is local. Even the stars are ten times as popular in their home countries as they are other places. Manny would probably make twice the money if he were American. That's part of the secret why Mayweather does even better on Pay Per Views. Manny has a bigger international following in places like Asia where people relate to him more. In his home country of the Philippines he's regularly done fifty million viewers for his fights and about 13 of his fights are in the top 50 television shows there of all time.

According to the Nielson ratings 13 of the top 50 televised shows in the Philippines since 1992 have been Pacquiao fights. Out of a population of 96.71 million here's the percent that watched the fights.

    1 ABS-CBN Manny Pacquiao vs. Erik Morales 2005 83.5%
    17 ABS-CBN Manny Pacquiao vs. Oscar Larios 2006 54.4%
20 RPN9 Manny Pacquiao vs. Marco Antonio Barrera 2003 52.9%
    27 GMA-7 Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto 2009 50.4%
    28 GMA-7 Ricky Hatton vs. Manny Pacquiao 2009 49.8%
29 GMA-7 Manny Pacquiao vs. Marco Antonio Barrera II 2007 49.5%
29 ABS-CBN Manny Pacquiao vs. Erik Morales III 2006 49.5%
34 GMA-7 Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Márquez II 2008 48.5%
    38 GMA-7 Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz 2008 46.4%
    38 GMA-7 Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito 2010 46.4%
40 GMA-7 Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao 2008 45.6%
44 ABS-CBN Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales II 2006 44.7%
47 GMA-7 Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez III 2011 43.7%
    Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez IV - (GMA-7) - 37.8%[4] (2012)

MARVIN HAGLER: With the Pacquiao and Mayweather fight, I think that Mayweather might be a little scared. But then there’s another thing, and he’s almost looking like a Sugar Ray Leonard in the type of sense where he is dictating all of the time. Hello! If you’re going to fight, let’s fight! Let’s stop all this stuff. Let’s just get it on! I mean that is what boxing is about. So he’s trying to gain more money or whatever. I mean you already made enough money. Do you want to fight the guy? Yes or no? And I think that Pacquiao is saying, ‘Come on! Let’s do it today’. But I wouldn’t wait around for Mayweather. I would take another fight and still make as much money as I can and then leave the game while I’m still on top.

Roy Jones JR -“You’re claiming to be the best pound for pound. Now that the man [Manny Pac] agreed to take a blood test, you’re still messing around,” Jones said to Boxingnewsonline. “So do you really think you can win? I’m starting to think he don’t. Because if he did he wouldn’t let this [the Margarito-Pacquiao fight] happen.
But I don’t think that he believes he can win. If he does think he can, he doesn’t think it’s easy.”

TIM BRADLEY – “Floyd doubts himself. Why won’t he fight Manny? Scared, man. He don’t wanna fight that. Floyd don’t wanna fight that. He don’t wanna see Manny in the ring.”

LARRY HOLMES – “Pacquiao did all he can. He did all I would have done. I think Mayweather just got a little too scared if you ask me. If he thinks Pacquiao is taking drugs so what, he should just say: ‘You take it, you kill yourself that isn’t going to help you, because with my talent and ability I believe I can still beat you.’ But he was scared to take that challenge. If they never fight it won’t be Pacquiao’s fault. Every time they came round to fighting, Mayweather put his excuses in.” (BTW Floyd has always made it known that Larry Holmes is his fav heavyweight of all time . PROBABLY NOT ANYMORE THOUGH )

ATG radio – “Do you really think that we’ll ever see Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather fight?”

GEORGE FOREMAN – “No. Not at all. No, it’s not gonna happen. Mayweather had a chance to do that fight years ago, and maybe for good reasons, he didn’t want it because there was a chance that , in early when he made up his mind to come back in boxing, Pacquiao would’ve run over him! Then they got a little even in time, and then Mayweather got pretty smart and understood, hey, why? I’m making all this money without fighting him, why fight him? So now there is definitely no reason to do it.”

JAMES TONEY – “My thing is this, Manny Pacquiao is not on steroids. Floyd is scared to fight this boy because the boy is just as fast as him," Toney would explain as he laughed at the accusations of Pacquiao using performance-enhancing drugs. "Everybody making all these excuses. It shows you right there that Mayweather’s not a man. If you be the best fighter in the world, you fight the guys, know what I’m sayin’? No matter, don’t put down no stupid #$%$ stipulations, right. Hey, he should be a little scared. And Pacquiao is proving he’s one of the best fighters in his era, in this decade. I grew up with Floyd Mayweather… we all came from the same block in Michigan. Me, the Mayweather family, Buster Mathis, Tony Tucker… The ‘Hall of Fame’ block, you know what I’m sayin? I love Floyd and I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing… but if you claim to be the best fighter in the world in the world pound-for-pound… fight! Don’t make no excuses.”
“Pacquiao’s going to knock Floyd out… and Floyd knows it. Floyd’s my man and I love him but I’m going to call it like I see it. The thing is this: Do you know what a rabbit does when it gets backed into a corner? It faints. And that’s what Floyd’s doing.””

SKIP BAYLESS - “Did Floyd DUCK Manny Pacquiao?”

50 CENT ( Floyds former best friend ) – “Yes. That’s a 100 million dollars, and he just left it. I can't hang out with Floyd no more,I'm tired of running from MANNY PACQUIAO .

MICHAEL IRVIN – “I want Mayweather to stop messing around and making us brothers look bad by running. Okay, listen. Stop running, man. You’re making the brothers look bad. Get in the ring, even if you lose, it’s an honorable loss.”

MIKE TYSON – “Hey listen, he doesn’t want to fight the guy, it’s obvious. I don’t know if he’s scared of him or not, but he just obviously doesn’t want to fight the guy.”

STEPHEN A SMITH (longtime die-hard Floyd-supporter ), ESPN. – “I’m saying because of the Manny Pacquiao I saw yesterday, I have to believe that Floyd is DUCKING.”

And you just lost credibility by using Mosley, whose opinion changes based on who is paying him. Also, Paulie is light years away from being an all time great. I see what you tried to do there.
