Stuart Hall vs Martin Ward - IBF Bantamweight title fight coming soon. Should be a good fight especially after Hall's last was a domestic FOTY candidate.

Frankie Gavin vs Sacky Shikukutu - Welterweight Commonwealth title.

 

Gavin vs Sacky in the 6th rd.

Frankie was down in the 2nd rd, fight has been close so far.

 

Tough Cnut is this Sacky- he's hurt Frankie to the body a number of times

 

Gavin is a great talent but he's been poor tonight.

He's one of those boxers who fights to the level he's boxing at, i still think once he fights the likes of Bundu he'll look much better.

 

Gavin has been looking much better the last few rds but the fight has got a lot less entertaining as a result of him dominating them.

I don't think Gavin ever goes looking for a knockout his game is all about outboxing and being elusive. He gets stronger as fights go on whilst his opponents get weaker as they tire from missing and chasing him.

I think he's much better in fights where he's against strong foes. Look at the Vassell fight he absolutely dominated that. Also, I think Gavin wanted to get the rounds in and like any great fighter he had to make adjustments to win this fight and had to find the range, and make Sacky miss.

 

That could be a problem for sure which means his fights at the top level will probably always go 12 rds.

I guess the only benefit of tonight is that Gavin has come through what looked like it could have been an upset earlier on.

The Bundu fight will show if Gavin is actually the World class boxer many believe him to be or someone who never quite has enough to make it to the top.

 

I think he's learnt alot tonight, he stayed calm under pressure and yes, in an ideal world he'd have knocked Sacky over and we'd be all saying "easy TTG" but I also was impressed with Sacky in the first few rounds, he came to win and fancied it, rather than the typical TTG style of stick out the jab and eventually crumble.

Gavin isn't a big hitter but, people saying "he's got a big lack of power" we always knew that with him. His game isn't about being a monster puncher, his tools are superb footwork and boxing skills. The ability to adapt and take your opponents weapons away and outbox them will serve him well in the future.

The question that does however remain, rather than his lack of power but how will his chin hold up when he does get hit badly. He's been in with light punchers so far, so there's still a few questions to see answered.

 

Gavin v Bundu would be a intriguing fight, really hope it happens.

 

He looked World class when he dominated and stopped Vassell but yeah he's not looked that great in his last 3 fights now.

I guess the Bundu fight will make or break him.

 

Also looking forward to seeing Bradley Saunders, seen him live myself and I think he could be potentially one of the best prospects we have, given he was meant to face Paul McCloskey his trainers must believe that he's ready to be unleashed and want to fast-track him.

 

Frankie Gavin wins by UD.

 

Yeah i think Sauders is one of the UK's best prospects, he's 28 now so i think fast tracking is the best option especially if he looks good tonight and they should look for a British or English title fight after this one.

Saunders will beat Curtis Woodhouse easily.
