This guy was clearly wobbled by a regular right hand from Soto Karass and lost his legs for a couple of seconds, another hard shot before he gained his balance would have put have him down on the canvas. Imagine Maidana landing flush bombs on him, how the hell is he gonna take hard shots from the real bangers when he was struggling with Karass's power?

correct me if I'm wrong, but this is boxing and the beautiful history of the sport proved time and again that one punch can turn a fight around 180 degrees in a second against even the most ironned chin warriors

to me, it looked like a decent shot + a combination of bad balance from Thurman, because he didn't look too badly shaken after he regained his composure

Excellent post. We need more Chin Talk on here. A Chin is the most important attribute for a Boxer to have. Glass Jaws exist in Boxing and we WILL talk them on here.

Tua was never wobbled or knocked down until he was like 40 years old and he took some monster bombs from huge super heavyweights such as Hasim Rahman, Oleg Maskaev, Lennox Lewis and Ike Ibeabuchi.

Rico, who do you think has a better chin, Kovalev or Stevenson?

I second this. Clearly the shot stunned him, but it didn't take him all that long to regain his composure. Boxers take shots better as they get more experience; they learn how to buy time and defend when they are stunned, Thurman will get better in that regard with more experience.

So far he does look to have a capable chin. It surely isn't an iron chin, but it most definitely is not fine china either.

He was pretty much a teenager when that happened, not to mention that Savon was 5 years older than him at the time.

Well, you chincheckers aren't as active anymore, you guys aren't posting up your monthly rankings, or making your predictions anymore. I enjoyed the glass jaw predictions, where chincheckers called the glass before it was discovered, and then it wound up being true. If you want chinchecking discussion, you guys need to get back on your A-game.

Interesting question. Kovalev clearly has a questionable/shaky Chin. What makes me want to see him fight is he is a guy with legit power and an unknown commodity as far as his Chin goes. Those type guys make for exciting fights. I honestly don't think either guy can take the others dominant hand and I think Stevenson knows this which is why he is a bit apprehensive about the fight.
