Just looking for unbiased opinions on Wilder away from the american general forum

I thought Wilder was a fraud, but him bombing out Scott on 1 round did impress me and made me rethink. He does have excellent power - no one can deny that. But from the clips I've seen of him getting KO'd in the amateurs by eastern europeans and getting knocked down in the pros and wobbled a few times means he does have a weak chin there is no doubting that either. But it's whether he can hide that glass jaw and knock people out first once he steps up to top 10 opposition. One more concern is his balance, he does seem to have dodgy balance like I think he could hit the canvas a lot just doue to his balance issues alone. Wilder also suffers from asthma whcih could affect him when he faces guys he cna't bomb out in the early rounds.

All in all I think his chin is going mean he is going to be a failure, but he does have an outside chance of doing good . What do you people think?

He will win some, he will lose some. He has improved alot since some of the amateur fights I have seen, plus for some reason on esb someones chin is either 'iron' or 'glass', could it be in-between?

He has the power to hurt people obviously, and to keep the opponent of him largely in a longer fight.

He is a genuinely world class puncher in a poor Heavyweight division, other than maybe Wlad I don't see who beats him tbh, but as you have kind of said, fighters maybe have a punchers chance against him too.

He will be World champion at some point imo, but not an undefeated fighter (Which is ofcourse very very rare)...

The fact is he is exciting to watch, so will get title opportunities, and I wouldn't like to bet against him taking at least one.

its nowhere near as weak as some divisions like super feather, lightweight, featherweight, light middle, light welter, bantamweight.

Pulev and Povetkin would certainly beat him, Glazkov, Fury, Perez, Adamek, Thompson - I Would fancy those 5 to beat him too

Plus yeah almost anyone can knock him out.... you can't say he has an average chin because if you look at the clips of him getting knocked out and when hes been rocked ... his balance and add that to the way hes been protected to avoid big punchers similar to how Khan and Sillayk have been protected... all the signs point to a glass jaw.

I think he'll fall short against the top 10 but he will be in some exciting fights :good

Not sure about bantam but I would argue that all of the other weight classes listed are stronger; Heavyweight has quite a few guys of roughly similar ability but the median level is not very high.

I would back him against anyone in the division except Wlad, but wouldn't put my house on it, the punchers chance in the heavyweight div is one of the only reasons it is exciting atm.

He has been hurt in the past but he has improved too, and I just don't see anyone beating him up, he will either get caught cold or hurt the other guy badly with his bombs.

I am certainly not a big fan of Wilder but he is the best of a relatively mediocre bunch, which is exciting in its own way because there are alot of what ifs.

Is he hiding glass? Sooner or later we are going to find out, but I predict he will come through it better than you are predicting :bbb

PS- Glazkov, Fury, Perez, Adamek and Thomson would all get stopped against Wilder.Fury would pose him problem with his size but he is a boxer with a questionable chin who almost certainly wouldn't be able to deal with Wilders big shots.

his chin wont ruin his career but his lack of boxing skill will when he faces someone that can actually fight. Not sold on this guy at all, his whole image stinks of bull****, it is as if they are desperately trying to great another Tyson like monster with the padded out record of nobodies etc, but this guy aint Tyson. As soon as he meets someone that can actually fight the truth will quickly reveal itself.

The fact Wilder has been soo protected as he has been is a major red flag.

Seeing as many people have noted that Malik Scott (who's hardly any good, not a genuine contender) probably could've got up, didn't seem to give his best effort, it's hardly enough of a result to say that Wilder isn't a fraud.

Not sure how we can tell if Wilder is any good or not. I mean, seriously, he's so untested it's ridiculous.

Bags of power but he's been protected for far too long.

What's going to happen when he fights someone who can take a shot and has a decent skill set? The way he's going he's going to fall in love with his power, then go up against someone who can take a shot and dish it out... by that point in time he's so used to bombing people out, when he's unable to he could fall apart.

Remains to be seen, jury's still out on him.

The first time someone can stand up to his power hes in trouble..
He just isn't getting tested and that's never a recipe for success I actually think that someone like Fury who can come to win and be prepared to fight dirty and ugly might have more than a fair chance against him especially if the fight goes a few rounds.

I can defo see wilder getting a belt of some kind but I can also see him being this generations Tommy Morrison he might get you out of there but it wont take much to stop him either

Scott takes a blatant dive(which I predicted btw, his acting was even worse than I thought) and now Wilder is "the best"? you're picking him over Perez, Fury and Thompson (fighters who have acually fought others with a pulse) based on what? The guy is ****ing awful and I've never seen a fraud so carefully matched yet so many people buying into the bs hype. On the one hand we get "he's too raw to be matched tough" then on the other hand "but he still stops everybody but Wlad"

Bryant Jennings in better than him, Wilder has the power though so of course he gets the hype, despite Jennings' superior resume (Jennings had a 17 fight amateur career, so that blows Deontays excuse of being matched soft because he didnt have much of an amateur career right out of the water)

Fury, Thompson, Arreola, Perez, Stiverne would all stop him. Glazkov is gash so who the hell cares about him

The man still has not legitimately beaten a top 50 opponent and you say he's the best in the division outside of Wlad? I bet Deontays team are rubbing their hands with all these gullible people running around. It's insulting to the likes of really talented boxers with good resumes like Kubrat Pulev to say a fraud like Wilder is the best, because he's bombed out a few journeymen

I had to absolutely laugh at the people who were saying "Scott will give Deontay a real test!" and "If Deontay stops Scott it proves he's the real deal!" I mean you would honestly expect casuals to be fooled by blatant bs like that but you really cannot call yourself a boxing fan and not see that Scott was going in there to fall after the first time Wilder touched him, I said it would happen before the fight ffs so its hardly me being an expert in hindsight either

Obviously not the same league talent wise but tommy Hearns did alright. Poor punch resistance doesn't mean you can't achieve a lot, depends if wilder can keep developing his skillset and use all his physical advantages to negate the fact he doesn't seem to hold a shot too well. I for one hope he does well, he's exciting to watch.
