Semantics. Ireland is also part of the island archipelago 'British Isles'. That doesn't invalidate folk from NI identifying as British.

People form Northern Ireland basically decide for themselves whether they consider themselves Irish or British

But no-one suggested that it did, Winston.

You are pushing against an open door!

Ahh. I don't think Rob posts on here any more, and I doubt he's Solaris, he posts on another board under his own name, and he's still as opinionated as ever. If it was Rob, he would already have said IMO.

il make this simple for you, if you add up the percentages of the people who hold a british passport and the people who hold an irish passport you get 80 percent this means that 20 percent of the population dont hold a passport and are not taken into account for this survey.

And I'll make it simple for you..... The statistics for nationality are populated by asking the individual concerned what nationality they consider themselves to be rather than assuming their nationality by the passport the individual holds....

    • 40% of usual residents had a British only national identity
    • 25% had Irish only national identity
    • 21% had Northern Irish only national identity

    Compared with

    • 59% hold a UK passport
    • 21% hold an Ireland passport
    • 19% hold no passport

    Simple enough?

you only brought up the second study after your original comment and you said 20 % not 25%

They r from the same study, it's the census, it clearly states this in the first article which is carried out by the government but published in Gaurdian,

U clearly took no interesting in actually reading the source of the article because u were too busy carrying out ur scientific calculations

The gaurdian breaks it down into an easy to read and understand format, yet.....
