In 1946 SRR fought Artie Levine of Brooklyn. He got hit so hard that he heard the number "five" from the referee before he realized he had been knocked down!

But like the true Champ that he was, he got up and won.

Jake put him down a few times. Later in his career he went down. I think he touched the deck a few other times early in his career.

I think Graziano had him down briefly.

I think he got knocked down quite a few times but he was a hell of a durable fighter.

His prime was at welter where there is basically no footage of him. Hard to call.

He was decked but they say the worst thing you could do was put Robinson on his arse.

He is too jumpy and it is easy to run him rageed and tire him out and nail him. Duran did a good job of this and so did hagler.

Art Rust Jr was a pioneer in black broadcasting and the number one SSR expert I ever heard.
Art always maintained by the final LaMotta fight Robbie had "Gone Back"

Also recall Art (he had a radio show in NYC for years) saying vs Belloise Ray was absolute perfection and added "I cried that night"

Graziano did. However when SRR got up he promptly ended the fight. An entire different class of fighter.

There a couple angle of that fight. Graziano threw a hook that missed but still ended up pulling Robinson down. It was not a knockdown that is why Robinson got right back up....Why he then destroyed Rocky is because Robinson is not to be played with. For my money, that is the best Robinson I have seen on film.
