Theres a lot more to boxing than simply being able to hit hard. Matthyse could hit a lot harder than anyone Garcia ever fought yet never had him in trouble. Ward has fought guys wih plenty of power, like Froch and wasnt in any troUBLE.
comparing froch's power to kov's is ridiculous. one thing is, kov has GREAT technique and is way faster than froch. never mind he throws straight combos and doesnt at all need to set to throw. kov would steam roll ward and tko him mid rounds. ward has zero chance and knows it deep down
are you implying that because kovalev did that to agnew(and other defensively flawed fighters) he'll do it to ward?
no, i am saying that because i truly believe in seeing most of their fights. ward could not keep kov off him and from the outside he would get murderd which is where the majority of the match would take place. ward would try to get inside and ruff him up against the ropes but kov was just push him off and unleash deadly accurate KO shots on him. i like ward but he isnt anywhere close to some are making him out to be. easy tko for kov
right....so why even make the fight? what's the point. let's just crown kovalev the same way they crowned matthysse.
which is why nobody on this thread has suggested it. hasn't stopped you being the 2nd to carry on about it, though.
Cloud not too long ago was being hyped to be all that. He was still able to get a belt. B fighters are not cans.
He got utterly robbed against Shumenov too and should have been Unified IBF/WBA Champion when him and Kovalev fought.
Andre Ward made a lot of good points. I'd favor him to defeat Kovalev as well. Although Ward certainly never faced a puncher like Kovalev, he still has the skills to neutralize him and he'd likely be able to do that if they were to fight. The only thing that concerns me is not just the punching power of Kovalev, but the accuracy and the precision of his shots. Anyway, if I was to pick a winner, that would be Ward.
