Ward doesn't counter better IMO

 

I'm tired of Ward yapping but fighting only once in two years. His best chance versus Kolalev is his headbutt.

Ward whips up on Kov. Cuts his face badly, then beats him like his last name is Abraham. Plus he does it without leaving home so h can take his wife to the movies after the fight. :happy.

Ward's defense is really not all that. He is very unorthodox which leaves opponents guessing, but his "unorthodoxness" has been getting sloppy and all those long reaching up-jabs he tries to throw are going to get him knocked on his ass sooner or later.

Further, if he moved up in weight, while I think he would carry it well, he WOULD be slower and he would still try those reaching up-jabs, well guess what happens next.

Apparently the guy who won an Olympic gold barely out of his teens and cleaned out his division by his mid 20s is afraid of a guy whose biggest win is Nathan Cleverely.

There really is no comparing Kovalev to Ward.
Ward is light years better in every element of the game.
Even Kovalev is no fool and will change is usual straight ahead style if/when he faces Ward.
Comparing Kovalev to Ward is akin to comparing a dump truck to Bentley.
