does no one remember the hardest hitting heavyweight of all time
ernie shavers. fought only the best heavyweights and hit like a horse.
    would put wilder to sleep.
until wilder fights anyone decent no one will no if he hits hard or not.never been tested fighting bums.

I don't know how serious a lot of the "Wilder is the hardest puncher in the history of heavyweights" talk is. Shavers is just the very tip of the iceberg, really. There are lots more with proven top-level power, and Wilder simply hasn't shown anything (or had the opportunity to) at that level yet.

Shavers had body moving power, Wilder doesn't.

Here is the scoop, lets say that it was measured with a gauge and like it or doubt it Wilder turned out to be the hardest hitter of a GAUGE of all todays current heavyweights and thus potentially one of the hardest hitters in the history of boxing???

Well regardless, Wilder still has to go out and perform to get the job done. That is what is the unknown factor and that factor has less to do with exactly how hard he can hit then it does to do with how well he adapts once he begins stepping up in level consistently and fighting only the best guys available for him to fight.

My point is Wilder hits very hard that's obvious. As well no matter how hard he hits if he gets starched repeatedly when he finally steps up to face the best guys available NOBODY will ever rate him as the hardest puncher ever simply because he wasn't good enough as a BOXER to make his power work for him.

IE: time will tell how great his power is going to come into effect

The whole issue here is that he hasn't fought a single prime top fighter yet. And the Scott 'KO' looked so farcial that most serious fans here don't even buy it.
He has power, that's for sure. But there are a couple of hw's out there who would have a similar KO streak if they faced that kinda opposition.
Before we start off with these kinda assumptions, take a look at some of the others that came up with KO streaks like that or even beyond. Most of them failed miserably when their opponents started to hit back.

If/when Wilder steps his competition up we'll find out just how powerful he is.

31-0-0-0 (KO 31) achieved with basic level boxing skills, thats the freakin whole point the guy has raw power and nothing else...which only emphasizes the point :thumbsup

I am contributing in a big project on projectiles, I rate Deontay Wilder as the most powerful puncher in human history (based on the evolution of size vs fast twitch loss)

No Fast twitch African was as finely chiseled at 6'8" as Wilder...The Dinka grassmen lost more their fast twitch & are the tallest of Africa. Fast twitch is highest in certain Western African Bantu who are not as tall as Wilder, as Wilder the finest of the American breeds. Also Europeans who were that tall were very slow, fast twitch muacles in Europe spread out of Greece in the neolithic via much smaller built guys, who can't match Wilder regards of how lucky their breed was...because it can't match an Intentional Breed :deal

So yes Wilder is the High End human, take it or leave it, the G.O.A.T puncher of the human gene pool, hopefully his shocking power makes him the G.O.A.T boxer, that is still in the future, for now he is already proven as the G.O.A.T puncher as of 2014

Get Wilder in with Tony Thompson, then we'll see how good he is and can judge his power.

LOL at the ignorance of punch mechanics on display here. Shavers punches were similar to a swinging wrecking ball slowly breaking down concrete up close; Wilder's shots are more like a javelin thrown from a long distance, and the javelin has a fist-shaped protrusion on the end which surprisingly does not cause a more significant layer of strong entropy change during flight. So obviously, which punch is "harder" is in fact the wrong question, and as scientists we should be asking instead things like "what is being struck?" and "what does this punch subjectively resemble, and what then are some of the properties of that thing?"

    Class dismissed.

(EDITED for clarity and additional data)

Could Wilder knock out Chuvalo? That is the question.
