Assessing Ward vs Kovalev....

    This is really an easy fight to pick. Ward has way too much of everything for a guy like Kovalev to deal with. The jab, the quickness, the sharp punching and he has every punch in the book. If this fight were to get made, I'd feel confident in predicting that Kovalev pulls an Andrew Golata somewhere in the mid to late rounds.

    That said, no way in hell does this fight get made. Kovalev's people will continue to feed him a steady stream of TOMATO CANs while acting as if Ward doesn't exist...

    i think ward beats kovalev and im a big kovalev fan, but it will be alot harder than the froch fight.

    I think Kovalev's people would accept a Ward fight in a heartbeat. It's not like Kovalev has a bunch of options. Why not fight a named fighter who would be coming up in weight?

    What does Kovalev have to do with Andrew Golota?

    I remain skeptical. Ward beats the **** out of Kovalev and makes it look easy - forever ending the Kovalev myth in the process. I'm sure his handlers realize as much and will ride the gravy train for as long as they can keep feeding him HBO approved TOMATO CANs..

    I think Ward would outwork Kovalev but I don't think Kovalev would pull a "Golata". Kovalev strikes me as being a pretty straight shooter. I was impressed how he held back against Agnew when Agnew went down. A lot of other fighters would have taken the opportunity to get a cheap shot in.

    I'm by no means trying to knock Kovalev. I think he's a good fighter, a good sportsman and, as you say, a straight shooter. I just don't think his level of opposition has properly prepared him to contend with the heat that an Andre Ward would bring. He's still virtually untested...
