He knocked out a ton of cruiserweights, that's why. All the guys like Ali, Tillis, Lyle and Tex Cobb proclaiming how hard of a puncher he is, were never knocked out by him. It is a huge ego boost for them to have withstood the "greatest puncher ever." You find his punching power is mostly based off anecdotes and fairy tales, not facts. This article right here did a great job of dismantling the mythological status of his punching power. He was great at crushing cruiserweight tomato cans, not great at knocking out legitimate heavyweights though.

Well considering how long boxing has been around, it is impossible to know the hardest puncher ever. What is irrefutable is that Shavers is NOT the hardest puncher ever, he was actually incredibly ordinary as a puncher against legitimate heavyweights.

Joe Louis, George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, probably one of those guys was the hardest puncher in the history of boxing.

Just because you hit the hardest doesn't mean you can knock everybody out. You have to have the technique, timing etc to still land that big punch. Shavers can still have the most raw punching power in boxing history w/o having big KO wins over great fighters

George Foreman has openly said Shavers was a harder puncher than him.

Because Wilder haters can't get over themselves :|

Wilder is 6'8"/84" 225lbs of fast twitch muscle

31-0-0-0 (KO 31), perfection will always offend some bitter people who can't be just nice and envy instead of hate :conf

Those experts also happened to beat him & survive his outrageous power...typical self kock polishing :yep

If he KTFO Frazier, Foreman & Ali... I WAS going to buy into the hype...but yeah all these 3 also been stopped, but not by Shavers

Anyways the grudge is already there against Wilder, irrational haters can't even admit he has raw power...:nono

He isn't. Foreman hit harder and so do many others. A few guys said he hit the hardest. Guess what, he didn't knock them out or down. They didn't want to give credit to other more known rivals. Also, when you get KTFO, you don't even remember lol. Or when you get hurt bad you may not even remember how hard you got it.
