Only notable name on that list is Young. Norton was very Chinny.

Every era has B-level contenders who couldn't cut it at elite level but were good enough to knock out men worse than them. Shavers was just one of many.

    Not necessarily.

Only Tyson can argue that he kod good, durable, fighters.

Foreman did Ko Frazier, Moorer and Norton, however all of them have some question marks regarding their chins.

David Tua, never beat a single durable fighter his whole career. He was the Wilder of the 90's feeding on toilet cleaners, taxi drivers, has beens and never weres, Moorer and Maskaev were not known for their durability. And Maskaev was kod by Mcall in one round (i think)

Morrison also never beat any durable fighters, only Tyson leftovers.

The fact of the matter is, as Mongoose covered earlier, everyone felt Shavers power. Guys like Ali and Holmes wouldnt just pull comments like that from their ass. Especially Ali who fought a whole host of punchers.

Big punchers and good finishers are 2 different things.

Frazier had a very good Chin. And I don't think you understand the meaning of legit savage power. I would not put Morrison as a savage puncher. He was a very good puncher. Dempsey, Marciano, Baer, and Louis all KOed very durable fighters in their careers in savage fashion. It isn't limited to Tyson who fought a lot of bums.

    What?

Ellis is a notable name. He was a top HW for many years and had previously only been stopped on his feet against Ali and Frazier after absorbing huge amount of punishment. Shavers gave him his first KO..and in the first round no less.

Norton wasn't that chinny, he could take tremendous punishment from above average punchers like Holmes and Ali. He is also an All Time Great Hall of Famer. Foreman was the only guy to blow him out previously, and Shavers actually did a better number. Norton has only been KOed early by Cooney, Foreman, and Shavers. All three regarded as all time hard punchers. Garcia stopped him after a long sustained beating.

Clark was a decent contender and is notable. He was very durable and had only been stopped by Liston and Norton after bad beatings, Shavers blew him out in their rematch.

Thing about Earnie: it's not like he never landed on the guys he lost to. The fighters who beat him, he generally landed flush on. Repeatedly. Multiple guys got off the floor to beat him.

I don't doubt for a second that Shavers was a hell of a puncher, but I wouldn't say he's the hardest puncher in boxing history.
