Chauncey Welliver was a top 50 HW and wanted to fight Monsour. But Chauncey was making 50-100K fighting bottom 100s in OZ/China. The fight was all but made with Monsour offering Chauncey 35K, but Welliver turned it down and lost to Tank.:yep
Yup, airfare, hotel and travel expenses are usually paid, and typically, reasonable training accommodations are also made for "paid opponents". But yeah, you'd like to have at least a week to acclimate before you fight a top 10 HW.:rofl
Ok you may be right. I hope you don`t put Elijah in the same league as Chauncey .... and Amir, though?!
I don't.... Although Chauncey was rated top 10 by WBC, WBO, and WBA before his Ls to Fujiomoto and Tank Williams, I never rated him as I do Pulev. BUT.....Chauncey could still get a 50K payday in OZ or China, just headlining a card. I don't see why team Pulev can't make the appropriate moves to get quality opponents a better cut. Fury was offered 50K. Jennings was rumored to have been offered 100K, but that offer was better because the potential to market the fight on American TV. IDK what Thompson got, but anyone fighting a top 10 HW should get no less than 25K for their potential beheading.:bart
not sure why they even bother to make a fight like this...what do they expect when they wait a week before picking out their can. you get more out of sparring than fighting a guy that has no chance
