Your speculation that he would be a top contender in a weak era seemed to imply he was not one in his own era.

BTW, the late 70s were not a strong era at all. Shavers would run into the same road blocks now as he did then.

No ,you misunderstood. It was a response to the people claiming he was just a 'bum' and a 'journeyman' and that he would be the same in this era.

Shavers would clean house in this era.

Only great fighters clean house. Shavers would win some and lose some as he did in his own era.

    Untrue.
Ottka, DM, and the Clinchko are prime examples.

Regardless of your opinion, Wlad is going to go down as a great. DM didn't clean house but he has a case, he beat Virgil Hill, who was a great fighter. Ottke didn't clean house.

And Shavers was erratic, even during his prime, that isn't going to be cured by moving him into a new era. He made Quarry look like Foreman and Norton look like a punk. He destroyed Jimmy Ellis but got schooled by a nobody named Bob Stallings. He murdered Young one fight, was lucky to get a draw the next. Thus is the way of Shavers.

Wlads lack of popularity reflects my opinion. And Wlad is about to make it even worse for himself when he does another disgracful Povetkin job on Leapai.

Of course..you want to focus on Wlad. Your favorite subject you can't stop writing about.

This is a Shavers thread. Address my comments on him.
