    :deal

The work rate is too high for Kovalev, and the spoiling tactics of Calzaghe would be too troublesome for Kovalev

Kovalev would get a working over like Jeff Lacy.

Calzaghe also possesses one of the best chins!!! He wouldn't be afraid of Kovalev's power.

I can see Calzaghe seriously hurting Kovalev and possibly putting him away in the mid-late rounds via large accumulation of punches.

Calzaghe would throw around 1000-1100 punches and find Kovalev more than 50% of the time!!

Calzaghe couldn't KO shot to pieces Roy Jones, infact the only person who visited the canvass in that fight was Calzaghe. Ancient, low output, no KO power Hopkins also dropped him. If anyone is getting stopped in this one it's Calzaghe.

But the fight wouldn't happen anyway, Joe "I don't want tough fights" Calzaghe would NEVER have the balls to get in the ring with someone as dangerous as Kovalev.

I agree it would be a very straight forward win for Calzaghe and Kovalev would just become another pretender to hype job etc.
I would say though that it would not be fair on Kovalev as Calzaghe had massive experience. Forget just the Eubank, Kessler, Hopkins wins, and consider the Mitchell, Veit, Woodhall, Reid, Jones, Bika, Lacy, Brewer, Sheika, Starie, Mketchyan, Jones.
    Calzaghe no doubt

Fact: After being dropped by a FOREARM (not a legit punch) by Jones, Calzaghe got up and won every other round.

It was a near shutout!! Roy left with a messed up face by the end of the fight.

Fact: Joe won very comfortably vs Bernard (43, this is a Bernard who went on to do great things....). Bernard had to feign an injury to get 5 mins. He wasn't even low blowed!!

Fact: Calzaghe has a massive resume with wins over (The next Tyson) Jeff Lacy, undefeated Kessler, Hopkins (In the middle of his great reigns), Roy (Coming off 3 victories), Eubank, etc etc etc

    Sven Ottke KO Undefeated Mundine
    Sven Ottke KO Undefeated Calzaghe

Kovalev gets sent to prison for Murder #2, the slaps will surely work vs Kovalev hammers :conf

Calzaghe had an iron chin, no man could have ko'd him. :deal:yep

It would probably require a sledgehammer.... and Calzaghe would have to be 100 years old!!

    Maybe then!

I have Calzaghe losing this one early.

If Old man Hopkins can put Joe on his butt in Round 1, I think that Kovalev catches Joe early for the KO.

Other then Lacy and Kessler, Joe has fought no one but bums and way past prime champions.

Joe's insane workrate would befuddle Kovalev. Kovalev would find a way out of the fight for sure in the mid-late rounds or resort to cheating tactics.

There is no man who could stand up to that workrate.

The Jones fight was nothing but a total embarrassment for Calzaghe, put on his backside and couldn't stop him, something Tarver and Johnson (a another fighter Calzaghe shamelessly ducked) had done in brutal fashion, to a much fresher Jones, years earlier.
