Wlad has been #1 for a long time, but just can't seem to get a crack at this title :nut

 

If your a top level fighter in Britain, you either win it in about 9 fights or you bypass it.

Its essentially for regional level fighters.

European title is the same, plenty of top fighters either by pass or pick it up early in their careers.

Naz, Hatton, Ricky, Lewis, Froch.

Either bypassed it, or used it a step up fight early in their careers.

No one who actually makes it, cares about it.

 

i don't remember anyone thinking Ricky was a real World champ when he had the WBU. they saw it for what it was. he just had a big following.

 

There's a lot of that stuff going on. There's a belt out there for everyone who pulls on a glove these days. At least Hatton was a pretty handy scrapper. Puts him a long way ahead of some of the guys wearing belts.

 

They are what they are. Nobody is taking them seriously.

 

I think you are very wrong there. People who follow the sport closely can see the bull**** from the trees. But many people who attend these fights and read about them in the newspapers do take them seriously - make no mistake about that.

 

When was the last time a WBU champ made the papers??

I don't really have any problem with that. They ain't taken seriously by those who matter. If they allow some small time boxer to get draw a bigger crowd and a bigger pay cheque then who cares?

Not really much different to the likes of Scott Quiggs WBA strap. (Much more legitamate I know, but not a 'world title' with Rigo being the super champ)
