source: http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=2056861&s=box&type=story in Spanish " Roach ya tiene un plan para Cotto" , in English " Roach Already Has a Game Plan Laid out for Cotto" what is his Plan? to Add more Muscle to Cotto small frame so Martinez will not enjoy any physical advantage, as if weight is the only thing Martinez has over him, Martinez is a natural MW, Cotto a Natural WW, this will be clearly seen on fight night, by adding Weight Cotto is only making him slower and Maravilla is faster than him as it is, but hey cotto is accepting freedy Roach advise and will Bulk up..
If injury-free and provided he doesnt "grow old overnight", Sergio wins this as he pleases. Its actually a pretty silly fight really.
Cotto honestly just has the shittiest frame for boxing ever. He is stocky, short arms, has a bad right shoulder so he has zero power in his right hand, and has substandard stamina because of the aforementioned stocky, heavy frame. For those saying he is a WW, he may belong there, but left the weight, because he couldn't make it without killing himself anymore, due to his shitty ass frame.
This has GOT to be a smoke screen. If they're serious about bulking up for Martinez then put your money on Sergio. F*cking DUMB...
Err, anyone with common sense who was betting would be putting their money on Sergio. I honestly think even the Sergio who had a ****ed up knee beats Cotto, we are talking about a guy who lost to AUSTIN TROUT.
I think by more muscle they just mean leaner. Cotto will be his standard 165 on fight night, and martinez his standard 170. Cotto didnt train very hard under diaz, stewart or the bum before him. Roach is known to get fighters in tip top shape. I just expected a leaner better conditioned cotto after 8 full weeks with roach. He'll look very good.
He's been pretty successful considering. On topic; It's pretty normal really. If you go up in weight, you usually put on a bit of muscle.
Depends on how much, where, and what type of muscle gets added. Too much, and it will drain too much energy. In the wrong groups, or unevenly it can cause problems. But moving up in weight, a bit can be helpful. Its more about the actual execution, than just the concept of "more". Devil is always in the details.
Cotto was not in top form for that fight by his words. Probably took Trout lightly and had an off night. Stop being a hater for one day...You will live longer.
If Martin Murray and Chavez were able to get up in Martinez's ass and Cotto was able to do the same to Mayweather.... I don't see how Cotto loses this. Martinez is not as big as people seem to think, and Cotto's style is just about perfect to take advantage of him in his current form.
:deal I was backing Sergio regardless but you'd think someone in Cotto's camp would have sense enough to know that bulking up is the LAST thing they would need to do for this fight. If this is even remotely true then I can't see why people still take Roach seriously.
