Fighters you believed would not survive the rd after being blasted, who hung on

Froch VS Groves round one and then round 2/3. He took some absolute bombs. I'd say I was surprised he survived that knockdown.

Secondly Pavlik when he was knocked down against Jermaine Taylor.

Lastly, and possibly the most brutal one was recently and that featured Tommy Coyle against Daniel Brizuela. He was on the end of a sustained body attack that looked like it might have broke a rib or two, somehow he made it up and summoned all his strength and survived the round on just guts, you could see how much pain he was in.
He went on to stop Brizuela in what is one of the candidates for FOTY.

Holyfield could literally have his own entire thread dedicated to his "how the **** did he survive that?" moments. You already mentioned round 9 vs Bowe in their first match, so I'll add the crazy ****ing shot he took from Bert Cooper, almost positive it was in round 4. The way he was hit was literally the cleanest way you can get hit right on the button, and by one of the most insanely great punchers of his era in Bert Cooper, who had FULL POWER on the shot.

Yes Brighton Bomber (and thanks for the spelling correction!), wicked whiplash off the canvas, it's scary watching a properly old fighter take that battering.

Just thought of another, Eubank V Watson. Eubank was systematically beat up thoroughly by Watson there. A must watch fight for any boxing fan really, intense action, Eubank has a 'last hurrah' flurry in the 11th after catching Watson only to have him slip away and re-group. Watson hits a v tired Eubank with a savage counter and drops him badly. Just no way for him to get back...doesn't have the strength to hurt Watson at all.
Of course, Eubank gets straight up through sheer pride, Watson moves in for the kill sits down on a big body shot but gets utterly tonked with a last ditch uppercut!

I think Harry Carpenter says of the finish: "That's the most dramatic end to a world title fight I have ever seen in my life!"

 

My number one vote actually goes to Larry Holmes, and how he survived that crazy haymaker from Earnie Shavers.

Here is the video, I challenge anyone to show a more ridiculously clean shot, with more power, than he survived here. Only competitor would be Ali in his first fight with Frazier, this shot was harder in my opinion though.

Khan Maidana...Khan got hit by that short 'coming up' overhard right. Awkward shot with a feint setup to the body with 2 minutes left in the round. Was surprised Khan surprised that.

 

I'm surprised that Pac vs JMM 1 and Pac vs JMM 4 aren't on top of the list.

 

I still remember when Allan Green was a prospect in a fight on ESPN2 with Donny McCrary. He knocked McCrary down, and McCrary immediately popped him a shot that looked like knocked Green out cold. He got hit again and crashed to the ground like a rag doll. He bounced right up but still looked almost unconscious. I couldn't believe it. I recovered and TKO'd McCrary a round or two later I believe.

Good shout on Holmes vs. Shavers II. And Gatti in round nine against Ward, I can only marvel when I see it.

 

I recall this fight. If Shavers had 30 more seconds he might have ended it. It was a near miracle Holmes survived.

 

Yeah My Jaw Dropped that Cortez didn't stop it. I figured it was ievitable that he would be Stopped in the Next round for sure but Little Man got a BIG heart. "Dynamita"

& yeah Tito & Vargas both showed heart.
But Tito's chose a dishonorable comeback.
Lost respect for dude after that.
