Thanks for the additional info much appreciated. I think Buchanan got a raw deal but that isn' t the issue here. It's whether Cooper should have been supported by the Board in his quest to get a fight with Ellis recognized as being for the title and wehther there was a conspiracy to deny him such aided and abetted by Duff & Co? What could they possibly gain from such a move even supposing it was in their power to effect it? As affiliates to the WBC the Board could hardly turn around and recognize a Brit fighting for thee WBA title and thereby not recognize the WBC's choice. could they ? Whether the BBB o C hitched their star to the right wagon or not is another matter that would require a different thread . Buchanan was one the greatest fighters the Uk has produced, but I think he was pretty hard to deal with at times ,at least that is the impression his manager Eddie Thomas always gave. Laguna I have always thought was overated.
henry cooper is the man that fought ali correct?? no i do not believe he would win a rematch but he seem good enough to beat some 50s contenders maybe lastarza
Ali's glove needed to be repaired. There is scope in the rules for more than a minute in that situation. What it was not was the 'minutes' that Dundee et al would spin with their tales...
The glove was not repaired ,neither was it replaced. The delay was negligible, another conspiracy goes down in flames.
In theory, (and practice) 5 seconds extra COULD make a big difference to a hurt fighter. I don't think it made a vital difference to Ali, who had exceptional recuperative powers.
Yes it was not replaced, but I would suggest tape was put on. And as you suggest the delay mattered very little, which was my point. You are being feisty tonight mcvey, bad day at work?!
Sorry T, I've been a bit grumpy lately ,got the flu.Havent worked for 9 years ,enjoying retirement. well, I am when I'm fit . Ignore my comment.:good
no, its a statement, you're on a boxing site and there a lot of old men on it as you said.they are also ex-boxers and fairly knowledgable.
