Round 5

Segura is bowling in uppercuts and spinning his fists behind himself in between, showboating a little. Salguero is jumping to his left around Segura, bowing low, sticking jabs on the body. Segura mows Salguero into a corner and slaps at his sides. Lead left on the chin by Segura as Salguero backs up. Segura tags him with a left and right hook. Salguero backs up while turning over a nice left hook in Segura's face. Combinations by Segura walking forward. Clusters of counters by Salguero, more accurate. The ref has the physician at ringside step onto the apron to look at Salguero's cut by his eye. Cleared. BIG uppercuts and hooks by Segura, many skidding off Salguero's arms. Salguero presses Segura into a corner with flurries to close the round strongly.

Round 6

Segura is landing the left hand, catching Salguero mid-flight with it. Salguero is knocked into the ropes but uses the momentum to keep moving, sticking his jab while dancing around Segura. Right hand falling in by Salguero, holding on briefly. Segura walks into a couple of jabs on the mouth. Salguero is backed up by long uppercuts downstairs. Segura is slapping at Salguero's face as they lean in by the ropes, then rockets up a left uppercut as Salguero matador turns him. Arm punches from Salguero leaping away from the ropes, then catching Segura by the arms, clamping down on them. Holding and hitting. Segura is throwing big left hands up top, missing wildly. Salguero backs up and pushes his jab. Right uppercut jumping in by Salguero. Combination by Salguero wiping the head of Segura, pressing in close enough to stuff an uppercut attempt Segura was loading up.

Round 7

Segura is unloading full power with both hands, left and right uppercuts and straight thrusts alternating. Salguero is jabbing Segura in the face, dodging his bombs, and clapping down with rights across the back of the neck and finishing with cuffing hooks or lean-down pushes. Time out to check Salguero's cuts. Time in. Straight combos by Segura, pushing Salguero into the ropes. Just when Salguero appears to be in trouble, BIG LEFT HOOK rocking Segura back. Huge sustained flurry by Salguero until the bell.

Round 8

Segura is ducking and waiting for Salguero, throwing big left hands up top and building into volleys of 2-1 repetition. Salguero is jumping into the lion's den and hooking the body of Segura and clapping down on the head as Segura ducks, less effective with his straight punches at short range and without the room to load up on uppercuts.

Round 9

Segura caught with hooks and rights coming in but manages to plant a couple of high whacks on Salguero's face to get some value. Segura is throwing wild hooks with both hands, fanning the air. Salguero is rushing inside and slapping uppercuts into Segura's sides. Wild right hook by Segura from a crouch, missing as Salguero dances around him. Jab over the head by Salguero, getting held and hit by Segura. Left hand on the face by Segura touches lightly, setting up the several right hooks that follow and miss. Big right hand by Salguero. Uppercuts by Segura, missing as Salguero jumps outside. Back in jumps Salguero throwing flurries into Segura's face.

Round 10

Segura is coming in with telegraphed right hooks, getting jabbed in the face. Flush right hand lead by Salguero, letting Segura impale himself on it wading in. A few right jabs flicked up by Segura, not reaching as Salguero repositions himself at distance. Salguero jumps in and hits the body. Segura tries prying him off with the right jab. Salguero ducks and comes up hooking, crashing his left glove into Seguras face. Segura is throwing long hooks with both hands leaping toward Salguero, from too far away. Salguero is sitting back on the ropes, countering with big left hooks after ducking. Segura begins to catch him with the looping left and Salguero falters. Salgero goes down!

TKO10!

 

I'm not crazy about that stoppage.

The ref was looking ready to pounce even before Salguero had really shown any signs of being hurt, and when he went down (more of a stumble from accumulation of shots and, playing a greater part, exhaustion) he immediately started waving.

Salguero was attempting to break his fall and putting both arms out to support himself and was probably OK to beat a count and try surviving another minute to see what the judges had in store.
