Looks like Macklin-Geale will be the undercard to Jennings-Perez on HBO on May 24.

That card has really changed, started with Stevenson-Fonfara and Kirkland-Nelson and has evolved to this current doubleheader.

Macklin has had more trainers than he's had hot dinners..

Is the Kirkland-Neslon fight on this card aswel?

Nope , Kirkland fight was scrapped. Macklin-Geale would be the replacement.

Good fight TBH, this has turned into a pretty good card. Both men like to work, so it should be an interesting fight to watch.

Probably because the main is a Heavyweight title eliminator, and ESPN is showing the title fight for the belt this eliminator is being held for on ESPN proper.

Since there is still this myth that Heavyweight boxing has the most potential mainstream appeal, HBO execs probably want to get on board the Heavyweight bandwagon.

I see their perspective... they want to encourage ESPN to continue putting money in boxing, so are playing along with the Heavyweight storyline. In the long run, it could be good for the sport and produce more boxing fans and more boxing HBO subs. ESPN proper dipping their toes back into boxing waters is actually kind of a big deal, or could end up being one anyway.

Macklin is good but lost badly to Golovkin, I've seen the fight of Geale against Barker and he didn't look that good, then he floors Barker with a body shot...may be interesting, I'd favor Macklin to win

Wish Pirog was healthy again, he would beat the **** out of both Macklin and Geale.

    :deal

a pair of years ago there was the debate on who was the beast form the east at middleweight, between Pirog and Golovkin. I thought Pirog was the better guy.

That would be funny if they brought in Golovkin to do colour commentary. Ward would probably make a stink face and post some cheeky YT video complaining about it.

    This doubleheader is much better.

Geale vs. Macklin and Jennings vs. Perez are each 10x better than Stevenson vs. Fonfara or Kirkland vs. Nelson were.
