Sorry to hear that Billy but I think you can be proud of what the two of you have achieved together.

All in all time will tell whether it is for the best, but Ricky hasn't looked great in his last few fights, so changing things up is certainly worth a go.

Right out of the Ricky Hatton textbook.... gone over the edge, done the max you can... now to eek out a little more go for a new trainer... but we all know what's what.

    Over and out, Ricky.

It all started just after the Beltran fight. I heard nearly straight away all was not well. But ricky wouldn't relocate straight away after the birth of his son. But your right about Tony , he's in eddies " inner circle"

The large majority on here slate him for his recent performances and slag off Billy, blaming him for a lot of it and now that Ricky fancies a change he's a Judas etc. Bunch of dopes on here. We know no details yet you are creating your own stories and judging him based on that, ridiculous. That said Billy, wish you all the best mate, you two had a great run. I agree with Ricky that after recent showings, a change might be the way to go

i actually never blamed Billy for Ricky's defeat or the Beltran fight i have always said Ricky was never good enough to beat Crawford, IMO Ricky is kidding himself if he thinks changing trainer will make him a world champion again, I think the best of Ricky is over and i doubt he will ever win a world title again and tbh even if Billy was training him i'd say the same just not the fighter he was and he is making Billy the scap goat

Proving my point exactly, what has he said to blame Billy or make him a scapegoat? Nothing, him changing doesn't mean he's blaming him, maybe he thinks a change is needing to learn new skills, who knows. How about waiting before we cast aspersions

It's disgusting to read some of the derogatory comments being directed at Ricky Burns because he's decided to change trainers. Regardless of who trains a fighter, the one going into the ring to risk his life and health is the one who has the perfect right to decide what's right for his career and well being.

As others have said, Ricky and Billy achieved great things together. In my view, Ricky has overachieved in his career and much of the credit for that undoubtedly lies with Billy Nelson. But in boxing terms they have had a very long and mutually beneficial relationship and perhaps both will gain from moving on.

Billy's response on here to the split has been dignified and gracious. I'm sure he will go on to enjoy more success in the future.

Exactly no need for the stuff directed at Ricky he's the one going in to risk his life to fight and had he not made this change he might start to think "What if"

It seems to me it's sunbed ed who's behind this one, in an attempt to try and bull**** the fans into buying into a big comeback from a new Burns. He will try to milk it as much as possible before getting him another shot. The truth of the matter is Freddie Roach could not make Ricky a WC again and the fast one knows it.

Please let me make things perfectly clear regarding our split, Ricky has made a decision which he thinks will benefit his career, I get on really well with Ricky and have hardly had a crossed word with him in all the time we've been together, I may feel he's not made the right choice as I feel im as good a coach has any in the UK but ultimately Ricky feels he needs to freshen things up and I can accept that and I told him so.
whoever Ricky goes to he will give 100% everyday in the gym and hopefully win a world title again, he's definitely still got it in him.
