I disagree I thought he could have done more, although I accept it's not a trait I would usually associate with Burns. I think the jaw had something to do with it and I honestly think he gave Crawford far to much respect and he believed the hype. He looked beat before a punch was thrown IMO.
My gut feeling is Burns needs money badly and he sees Hearn as the man who can deliver what he needs. The way it looks to me is that if Eddie told Billy to **** in the fire he would. Hearn is very manipulative and has gone into overdrive recently when it comes to unsettling and tapping up fighters. Eddie's not that smart and would be a used car sales man without his daddy's money. It's only a matter of time until he royally fcuks up.
Onwards and upwards Billy, take all the valuable experience with Ricky and make a new champ we can all talk about! :good
Nobody hates him but strong criticism, mainly because billy posts on here... BN isn't going to spill his deepest darkest secrets on here, or anything like that, but he generally seems to say what he thinks. Good move for Burns, not going to do him any harm and maybe the shot in the arm he needs.
What was the campaign to support Burns in his financial dispute with ****** driven by? We heard in the campaign that Burns has not become rich off the back of boxing and in fact the sweet science has not been that lucrative for him at all.
Lets wait and see who the new trainer is first and if his CV is as good as Billy Nelson's? Then we will know if it's a good move?
So let's say you have £1m in your bank account, a guy who made money off your back after you provided the service then says your not getting paid the 100k he owes you, you just walk away and say **** it ? Behave yourself.
So they didn't paint a sob story in the campaign? Here's what it said on the petition to ******: "Ricky Burns is a professional boxer. Not only that, he is a young married man with a family who is working hard to provide for them. Unlike the millions of dollars that are commonly associated with World Champions, Ricky does not earn anywhere near those advertised amounts. From the purses he wins he must pay his training team costs, sparring partners, medical, support costs, mortgage and of course income taxation and VAT. All of which amounts to tens of thousands of pounds at a time. From the purses that Ricky has, his wage, after all the deductions, amounts to a standard living wage. So much so that between contests Ricky maintains a part-time job as a salesperson in a sports shop. Not exactly the glorified Money Mayweather fortunes that people might imagine he has." Maybe you should tell the people who wrote this to behave themselves.
Why ? What part of that statement is wrong ? He has a young family and doesn't earn what Mayweather or other big hitters do. The people who wrote the petition were exploring another avenue because clearly ****** wasn't budging any other way. Seriously get a grip of yourself, Burns and all boxers risk there own life's while guys like ****** are reneging on paying them and your painting Burns and his team the villains here.
Try to stay on topic the discussion is about how well off or not Burns is. I said I get the impression Burns needs money and you and Billy said that isn't the case. Why is he working as a part time sales man in a sports store then? The petition is giving the impression Burns is only making a standard working mans wage. What's the real story?
