At the time the lineal title was very important for Floyd, because he was trying to position himself for a fight against Oscar.

When oscar fought mayweather, people said he was over the hill, was he not over the hill when he fought Pac? i am just trying to understand the hate for mayweather and see where it stems from. When Mayweather fought hatton, the public said mayweather was ducking him and that they should fight, mayweather beats him and then the public said he was smaller than mayweather and that hatton wasn't that good. Pac fights him a year later, and he gets praised for knocking him out which was a terrific ko. But what happened to him being too small? he was to small for mayweather but just right for hatton? It wasn't a lock, most people at the time thought Floyd who just moved up from 140, was to small for Oscar who recently fought as high as 160. That was supposedly one of the reasons who Oscar did not take Floyd seriously when he constantly called him out when he was 3 divisions lighter.
