    of all time

    why??

well he doesnt have a good knockout record. not my number 1 puncher armstrong who at prime was killing every dude.ok armstrong was nt a polished puncher like louis but,,, never the less he was destroying every opponent as featherweight and lightweight. and good opponents

anyway williams did not have a knockout record like htat. however he gets in my top 10 for reason being on film he has 2 of the best punching displays
    tko6 jack
    tko1 gatica

first 1 is most ferocious thing i seen in a boxing ring
second 1 is maybe the best combination i seen in a boxing ring and also 2 accurate knockdowns before. a different display more accurate and good timing

no williams did not knock out every opponent. why????

    well 2 reasons.
1 he had more 2 his game than punching. good jabber good stamina could win on points
2, it is not clear hwo much he was controlled by mafia. there is speculaiton that he was wearing cuffs or at least was holding back in some fights

but more 2 do with first reason

but then sugar ray is also in my best punchers top 5. and he didnt knock out everyone even at welterweihgt. and also moore

no williams did not turn it on all the time. but when he did it was great we have filmed evidence
unlike armstrong who is hurt by lack of knockout footage..... we see him maul ambers garcia arizmendi etccc and think he was a bruiser and he was but damn we are unlucky 2 not see his best fights. he knock out 51 of 59 wins in 61 fights in 3 years
and tht is welterweights as well he was small for that division

below that he scored like 24 knockouts in a row or something. not a 1 punch guy but he just bounced people up and down until the ref or manager **** their pants at the damage

    my top punchers no order

    armstrong
    robinson
    louis
    moore
    williams
    tyson
    langford

    hearns
    foster
    gomez damn gomez is perfecrt

and 1 pick who no1 will agree with rodrigo valdez but he was not a great fighter just very good but his punching was brutal. but he was a head hunter and lose points for that. but he could hit like a can of peas like he was holding cans of peas

    need to think of others

Williams battering Beau Jack is brutal stuff indeed. Referee was a little bit late stepping in, I reckon.

I think Ike Williams gets overlooked a lot. He wasn't just a puncher, he was an all-round complete package.

Knockout records are deceiving. I suspect that has something to do with how much tougher it was coming up through the ranks then, you were matched a lot tougher. Your opponents then weren't all pushovers designed to pump up your glossy perfect records for the sake of HBO ratings. You had to learn the hard way, and that means your opponents didn't just fall down the first time you threw a punch with bad intentions.

yes and this makes armstrong look even mpre impressive i think

took more to get a knockout but maybe actually on the other hand you did have longer fights

but armstrongs victims at lighter weights didnt even last til mid rounds. he ws knocking them in 1 to 4 rounds mostly

I can't remember Williams ranking in Ring magazines 100 greatest punchers list. However I do recall him being described as a fighter with a fairly low KO percentage, but was an extremely hurtful puncher.

he was he was 60 or 70 something

for consistincy he rates low but for peak power he make up for that i might rate him number 6 after moore

I think maybe with those fellas fighting as regular as them they would have to take care of their hands. Damage your hands going for the knockout all the time and you're out of business, I think I remember reading once that Willie Pep said Chalky Wright was the hardest puncher he faced. He's another one of those fellas with a lot of fights close to each other.
