Couldn't agree more with the OP.
Been my thoughts for a long time. Jones was one of the greatest athletes in the whole history of boxing. Wonderful reflexes and speed. But he never was a skilled boxer in the traditional sense. He got away with this for a long time but the minute his reflexes dulled he had nothing to fall back on because he never had great defensive skills.
The idea that he developed a glass chin is rubbish.
His reflexes and speed, timing etc. meant he never got hit much.
Mayweather by contrast lasted much longer and nevertakes any punishment because his boxing skills are much better.

He was the best I ever saw

I don't know which version of James toney he beat

All the rumors about toney slacking off are probably true

All I know is Roy should have fought

Nunn, eubank, benn, g-man, rematch with bhop when he had more experience,

    And he didn't

He's not a coward like Floyd mayweather, Floyd is completely unproven because he fought nobody in their prime, except maybe chop chop Corley

Basically he should have fought nunn

    Nunn is a real atg

Roy Jones Jr. is the most overrated boxer of all time, no ****.

Dariusz Michaelczewski would've knocked that bum out if he ever got the chance, but Roid Jones Jr. wisely avoided even acknowleging the very existence of the true lineal champion of the world and chose to fight mailmen and school-teachers instead, fooling you stupid americans into thinking he was sth special...

Roid Jones Jr., Michael Gerard Tyson... You americans surely have a soft spot for those glass-hearted, glass-chinned hypejobs :rofl

Too bad you can't run away from the Klitschkos and GGGs of this world anymore, right? :rofl

Roy was the most physically gifted fighter ever. In addition he had a very high ring IQ which made him about as invincible as I've ever seen a fighter be in the ring.

From 1995-2003 he was untouchable. I don't think anyone could have beaten him or even have come close.

Floyd may end up being the greatest boxer who ever lived, but Floyd wasn't as talented as Roy. Roy made every fight not only look easy but you would think the other fighter didn't even belong in the same ring and the other fighters were champions. Roy was making it look so easy that people hated him at the time thinking he wasn't taking on any challenges.

Floyd has been winning but he hasn't been completely destroying guys in every area. Floyd is more like a James Toney level talent with extreme discipline and high ring IQ (maybe the highest ever).

Floyd is a mix of James Toney and Bernard Hopkins. He doesn't knock guys out or make guys look stupid, but he finds a way to win and not get hit.

How come people keep saying stuff like "he should have fought Benn, He should have fought Eubank"?

Eubank OPENLY ADMITTED IN HIS BOOK THAT HE NEVER WANTED TO FIGHT A PRIME ROY JONES BECAUSE HE THOUGHT HE'D LOSE!"

Benn essentially admitted that politics stood in the way of their fight. He also said ON CAMERA, that he didnt mind being considered #2 to Roy Jones
