ESPN2 FNF: Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez vs. Giovanni Lorenzo RBR

Round 2

Ramirez Sanchez is needling with the 1-2, keeping Lorenzo on the ropes. A flush 1-2 sets up a hard follow-up jab on the upper head by Ramirez Sanchez, snapping Lorenzo's neck violently. Ramirez Sanchez is throwing right jabs, overhand lefts, and right hooks driving Lorenzo into a corner. Lorenzo is shooting right hands out from his tight guard as he scrunches himself up by the ropes. Lorenzo is caught by a few jabs opening up but gets in a couple of touches with the high left jab and line drive rights across the side of Ramirez Sanchez's throat, unable to find his chin. Ramirez Sanchez is precipitating lead lefts from a pace out, not allowing Lorenzo enough room to escape the corner.

Ramirez Sanchez is wasting the right jab, glove open, focusing on planting the firmly clenched left on Lorenzo's face while trapping him in a corner. Big looping lefts mixed in with the straights, Lorenzo ducking and popping light shots on the body. Lorenzo backs out and throws overhand rights and left hooks but struggles with the superior reach of Ramirez Sanchez, getting tagged while too far away to score himself. BIG right hooks and left uppercuts by Ramirez Sanchez. Lorenzo is getting hammered on the ropes, swooping and leaning with his arms lain against his chest to slip and block, to no avail. Finally Lorenzo takes a knee following twenty seconds of severe abuse. Lorenzo beats the count and takes a low blow. Nady gives Lorenzo a moment to recover. BIG lefts downstairs and up by Ramirez Sanchez.

Ramirez Sanchez is landing the left hand from outside, Lorenzo hooking at phantoms, stirring the air where he anticipates Ramirez Sanchez might be moving in. Right jabs on the bridge of the nose by Ramirez Sanchez. Lefts on the body. Lorenzo flicks his left jab and steps briefly forward with a right cross, only grazing the wrists of Ramirez Sanchez and quickly retreating. Ramirez Sanchez knocks Lorenzo into the ropes with tattooing right jabs and 1-2s. Pendulous lefts on the body by Ramirez Sanchez up close. Ramirez Sanchez resets with a long step out toward the Corona logo painted on the center of the ring and reintroduces the left hand lead on the brow of Lorenzo.

Round 5

Ramirez Sanchez is spamming the right jab and left hand lead by turn, several of each in succession while maneuvering Lorenzo along the full perimeter. Lorenzo is able to quickly pivot as he nears the end of each set and not ever let his back slide into the corner. 1-2 by Ramirez Sanchez drops Lorenzo nearly to a knee, glove touching down. He beats the count again. Ramirez Sanchez immediately catches him again causing another dip with Lorenzo's glove almost scraping the floor again. Ramirez Sanchez keeps attacking straightaway, getting the knockdown again. Lorenzo makes overtures of resisting the end but his corner throws in a towel.

Gary Salazar vs. Jair Quintero, 4 rounds @ super featherweight

 

Round 1

Salazar is jabbing into the guard of Quintero and hooking underneath it. Quintero is stepping around Salazar, jabbing and hooking up top. Salazar light-foots out a couple of steps and takes a Quintero right hand on the back of his arm. Salazar is jabbing hard to pierce and split apart the guard of Quintero and drilling the right in behind it. Quintero stays defensive, moving and only throwing left hooks when Salazar closes in on him. Effective straight counters by Salazar, thrown in fast bursts while Quintero is opened up.

Round 2

Salazar is flitting in and out, blocking the charged-up hooks thrown out roundhouse by the stationary Quintero. Salazar is tripling his jab into the guard while circling past Quintero. Double left uppercut by Salazar climbing from hip to head as he circles in close. Quintero peers down between his thumbs at Salazar. High jab breaks the guard and scores for Salazar but the right cross behind it misses just wide as Quintero turns his face and bounces onto his heels. Salazar lobs a right hand into the midsection. Quintero is blocking the jab and turning Salazar, trying his own left uppercut but firing it up into the air.
