I think a fighter doing that would gain massive respect and would make a couple of judges look stupid/corrupt.

I already repected fighters more that were a bit more diplomatic after getting a gift, being like "it was close and the judges saw it my way" or something simular, to the ones that were like "I won the fight 8-4" and blame the commentators for the public seeing him getting a beating.

 

That will never happen. Would it be refreshing? Hell yea!! Epic even. But never happen. Most likely becuz it woukd be career suicide. Imagine if garcia admitted that Herrera won...all that money and conniving by schaefer down the drain...we wouldn't see garcia for a long time or we'd see him go unprotected against a guy who is predestined to win with that guy becoming the new protected champ and garcia fading away. Not picking on danny here just a good recent example so to all the comments soon to come about me being a hater...I don't care

I would respect a fighter for doing it, but in their shoes i would never directly admit it myself.

I got the impression that Calzaghe didn't think he won the fight against Hopkins until sometime after the post-fight interviews. He was shocked when they told him he landed more shots on Hopkins than any other opponent, saying, "it didn't feel like it". He's since sounded a much more convincing tune, but not in the immediate aftermath.

I can't really imagine a boxer admitting he lost until he actually saw the fight on tape, as he's not really in a position to make that assessment just after a fight, unless he was really rocked and received a couple of 10 counts and still squeaked out a victory. But after watching it on tape he could possibly make that assessment. Holyfield came close to admitting he lost when he was awarded that gift draw decision against Lewis, but he never quite said those words.
