i dnt know if he is now.. but back in the day he was not..

why is schaffer calling me. i dont know who handles mayweathers fights

yet he was so in the know that "he cant fight pac because i know he is signed on to fight erik morales"... i dont trust a word that comes out of arums mouth and i doubt any decent person does.

floyd should still make that call after maidana. provided he wins he has over a month until marquez alvarado, more then enough time to touch base and get the ball rolling in november..i mean whos floyd going to fight in the fall that will put asses in seats ?

lara if he beats canelo and thats allready unlikely.. he might aswell take on pac now coming off one of his best wins. its a shame he could not force the fight to happen in 2010 though he did basically everything he could to... better late then never should be the tag line of this fight

 

Floyd is the ultimate coward. That, is the bottom line.

 

3 reasons for his apparent lack of power.

1) He is fighting way above his optimum weight. Could you imagine a Donaire, Rigo, Frampton, etc KO'ing world class WW's? That is simplified but essentially the point is valid.

2) His opposition has been very good, esp in the chin department. Rios and Bradley are known for having great chins, JMM too they have never been KO'd. Mosley and Clottey were there to survive with Pacquaio, Margarito has a good chin and was 20 something pounds heavier. Very few WW's would KO these guys so it shouldn't be a surprise when Pac doesnt.

3) Pac was never really a concussive KO artist: He was a whirlwind with lightening speed and angles. Since KO6 however, Pacquaio has regressed a little overall and is not being as aggressive, and is using his boxing skills as opposed to all out attack and aggressiveness. He has adapted somewhat more cautious approach and while this is going to lead to less chance of KO, he is taking less risks which is probably actually a good thing at this stage in his career.

 

If Canelo beats Lara. You can be sure floyd win will look a lot better than beating Bradley.

Its a good question and its a pity there aren't many good posters left here to answer it anymore.

First impression is that it is close, both are great wins and probably the best of each fighters last few years. I'd favour Pac's win over Bradley, owing to the fact that Bradley was proven P4P top 3-5 at the time and prime. The Alvarez question will be answered in time as Alvarez is only really starting out in his career, but the 152 weight is a bit of a drawback.

Both very good wins though.

 

He also got put down in the 3rd round of that fight. A shot that he would have brushed off years prior. Bradley who has very little punching power also hurt him in the 4th and lifted him off the ground with an overhand right.

 

if you are speaking in terms of skill for skill, Pac can't beat mayweather. Mayweather can fight inside, outside, stationary, on the bike, throws right leads, lead hooks, counters, crossess, uppercuts, he's smarter, more accurate. But, it's boxing can Pac hit him with something mayweather doesn't see, it's possible but hugly unlikely.

 

Pac has a good chance to beat Floyd for the following reasons: Bradley is more agile than Floyd, Pac prefers to fight opponent taller than him(admitted before many years ago),Floyd is also diminishing.

The thing with Floyd, he is facing slow opponents. His opponents are not as agile and skillful like Bradley. Cotto vs Floyd is closer than Pac vs Cotto. We don't know how Floyd's old legs will react against elite opponents that has skill,power and is fast.

 

Apparently beating a unified LMW champ who comes into the ring at 165, isnt as good as beating a 5'6 WW.

Just answer me this,
you're Manny Pacquiao and you're given the choice of next opponent

This wasnt a p4p issue.

Floyd went and fought a guy 15lbs bigger than him.

THATS what makes the win better.

Floyd and Pac are the same size, but Floyd was fighting a guy with a HUGE size advantage over him.

 

Good points. I like to add, Cotto is not even a fast fighter. As you told Floyd is fighting slow and unskilled fighters like Ortiz. Pac still has a good chance to beat Floyd(2009 Pac will TKO Floyd). I like to see how Floyd's old legs will react if he face a fast fighter that has pop and skill like Pacquiao. Bradley is more agile with his movement than Floyd.

 

Pacquiao lost everything that he used to have. Speed, footwork, power, and granite chin.
