Are you telling me every boxing match you see is non stop action....no clutching or grabbing.....no running.....and of course no glass jaws...If you cant appreciate ground fighting that's one thing but you should know how important it is when even a master of the sweet science James Toney was taken down quickly beat up on and then submitted.

Any fight can be boring wethere it's MMA / boxing or anything else.

Is it because you dont understand the skill involved when a fighter is on top or on their back? I enjoy seeing a fighter escape some ground and pound or a submission attempt.

Not a matter of not understanding it, just don't like it. Can you understand that? It seems a lot of MMA fans can't and hide behind this insecure "you don't get it" thing.

No, I get it. I understand and even respect the subtleties of wrestling.

I just hate watching it, always have and will forever.

Fair enough! yes I understand! I'm certainly not hiding behind the 'you dont get it' I'm not a hardcore fan or anything like that.

I'm a sports fan that mainly enjoys boxing / MMA I just enjoy and appreciate the ground game....it can be dull but It can also be enjoyable imo! :good

I recognize that boxing matches can also be tedious for spectators who aren't enamored of the science already... but personally, I enjoy watching the subtleties of even those largely defensive, "for the purist" game-of-chess type match-ups. It just speaks to me in a way that wrestling never has and probably never will at this point. (being in my early thirties and having been put off by wrestling since my teens)

I realize that a lot of what you get in MMA when it goes to ground, much like boxing when it's "slow", is similarly technical & tactical and requires a bit of knowledge of what each man is attempting to do (and prevent the other from doing) to acknowledge it being anything other than "unskilled rolling around on the floor dry-humping" - but I simply don't find those subtle moves and counter-moves, the application or evasion and escape of holds, anywhere near as enjoyable as two pugilists circling and looking for openings to counter or slight missteps in their rival's footwork, etc.

When I want to see Glass Jaws get Shattered I watch MMA. Guys getting sparked and put on ***** Street from a Jab.:rofl:patsch

Some fighters are more entertaining than others. Not sure how anyone watches any of the fighters from Gracie BJJ they aren't really 'fighters' more like Octopuses. Boring.

Jiu Jitsu (including and maybe especially the Brazilian variety) is actually 50x more aesthetically pleasing than any iteration of 'wrestling' (Greco-Roman, freestyle, whatever), IMO.

I agree to some extent that UFC 5 years ago had some mismatches or fighters that would not do anything on the ground or when theyre up against the fence they would just lean on each other and not do much, but over the last five years it has improved, UFC has become and is still becoming a more and more of an exciting sport. You have to remember how old UFC is compared to boxing.

Yeah, that's about the only thing entertaining about MMA. IF they actually throw some punches - instead of rolling around on the ground - you're pretty much guaranteed that SOMEBODY'S glass jaw is gonna shatter.:yep

Yeah MMA fighters have glass jaws there is no disputing that. And there punching and defense is terrible. They need to get from point A to point B without getting hit and that is just not likely to happen against a well trained top level boxer actually. The boxer is gonna win most of the time. All they need is one punch and its lights out

You're a liberal college professor. Watching men roll around together should be right up your alley.

That's not true at all. Now i'll say a thing that'll make you drop your jaw in surprise.

MMA fighters use gloves that cannot exceed the weight of 6 ounces :admin:admin:admin.
The most common weight, and the lowest usable, is 4 ounces :admin.

Now imagine even just MIDDLEWEIGHTS boxers fighting with 4 ounces gloves. Jaws shattered everywhere. Blood masks. Broken jaws and ribs. One-punch liver shots kos. :deal

The fights were terrible tonight, I really wish I hadn't watched them... Now I'm a fan of MMA, don't get me wrong, but it's very hit or miss. I think there needs to be changes in the rules to prevent stalling on the ground and against the fence, some refs are quicker to separate guys than others. But I think there needs to be a system to prevent "stalling" which has become extremely prevalent. I say something like the Yellow card system that pride had...

However for you chincheckers out there, Check out KJ Noons/Sam Stout and Ryan Jimmo/Sean O'Connell.

Last nights UFC card was pretty decent... The Co-Main event was terrible, but other than that the main card was pretty good, the undercard had some moments as well.
