Are you buying the Maidana-Mayweather PPV?

Pacquiao-Bradley was a great main event.

But there are no great matchups on Mayweather's PPV, just mismatches.

 

The main event is solid. The best fighter of the era against one of the most entertaining fighters of the last 5+ years who once again, drum roll, is a top 5 WW (or top 6 or 7 if you want to try to quote me for that and claim it blasphemy).

Rarely does one get to see high profile fighters like both Broner and Khan on the undercard of a PPV, especially Khan being in a solid fight against Collazo. While the Broner fight is a horrible mismatch, it should be entertaining which is all some people out there care about.

For those people out there who only care about entertainment, this is a great card. To those who want quality match ups and entertainment is just a possible outcome, then it is a good, not great, card.

 

Khan/Collazo isn't a mismatch.

Love/Periban, while not a great fight, isn't a mismatch.

 

What if it doesnt? What if it does 900k? Still decent numbers all things considered. I think the fight has a hard time coming close to the Canelo fight, because that fight just wasnt very good.

Honestly Floyd should have fought it at 154, it would have been a better fight if Canelo didnt have one foot in the grave from sweating off those final 2 pounds. Thus, his next fight would have sold better.

I have a hard time believing the extra million odd people who bought the Canelo fight , that had not bought the previous Floyd PPV... will be motivated to come back and dish out another 70 bones.

I have to say that I voted 'no'.

I am most interested in the Khan/Collazo fight - maybe neither of them are top fighters, but there is a lot on the line for them, and it is sure to be a competitive and intriguing matchup.

The other 3 are just not compelling enough in terms of competitiveness (FMJ vs Maidana, Broner vs Molina), or just not really that interesting (Love vs Periban - which is kinda OK, but doesnt add to my willingness to pay $70 to be honest).

I honestly would have been more into Mayweather Khan. I just can't get into the Maidana fight, as it seems to be off the back of his Broner win exclusively - which as many of you have pointed out, Broner is no Mayweather.

 

We'll see.

 

4 Superstars? I only count one on the card.

Khan could have been one, but we all know what happened to him. Broner.. same. Maidana.. well, he might become one if he beats Floyd. But noone expects that to happen.

I give Maidana far more credit than most around here by far, and still think winning 4 rounds is the best he can hope for.

The fact is, people who know anything about boxing know that Maidana is going to have a hard time even making a real fight of it. The people who dont, but bought Floyds last card know it was not worth the high price.

The fight has no drama. Thats its biggest problem. They trying to make some by putting Khan on undercard... but the problem is, outside a very small but very vocal minority - noone has given a rats arse about Khan in years.

I think they will be lucky to do 1.2m, especially coming so soon after the PAC PPV. Though I will say that Maidana is the best opponent at 147 not with TR.

 

Did you buy pac/bradley? How was the undercard?

 

I am not paying for a sparring session with a bad undercard.

 

That undercard wasn't very good, except for Khabib-Vargas which was a good matchup and an entertaining scrap. But even that fight was ruined by the shady judges scorecards.

The main event of Bradley-Pacquiao was a truly great matchup and a highly entertaining fight.
