Got mad respect for Cotto for taking on Martinez, the LINEAL MIDDLEWEIGHT champion. As a small but powerful welter, not many are giving him a snowball's chance in hell (me included), but that doesn't matter. What matters is that he's putting his life and health on the line to be great for himself, his family, and his fans.

Maybe Cotto and his people know something about Martinez's condition that the rest of us don't and there was some calculation in taking this fight now. Even so, my guess is that if it was that bad, Martinez would not have taken the fight. Given Martinez's intelligence and the savvy people around him, I don't see him being so desperate for cash that he would risk taking a fight with Cotto unless he was moderately to strongly confident of his recovery.

Worse, after watching some of the video of the press tour and the snippet of the Faceoff, I get the feeling that Cotto was mislead about Martinez's condition before taking the fight. To me, Martinez appears very confident and Cotto looks shook but trying not to give it away.

Anyway, who knows and anyone telling you different is selling you something. This is boxing and anything can happen.

Cotto could come in and box the fight of his life with just enough defense to escape Martinez's vicious assault to win a close decision.

But my guess is that Martinez will return at something close to 100% and will batter and slice up Cotto badly with tremendous speed, knocking him down multiple time before the ref calls a halt between the 3rd and 6th round.

No matter what happens though, Cotto will always have my respect for taking this chance to try do something great.

miscalculation on roach's part. cotto knows and feels it. his body language said it all in the face off. he's one of my favorites...so is martinez. watching sergios training footage the other day...i don't see a bad knee. cotto is in trouble.

I doubt Cotto has demanded drug testing as he is a true fighter who just gets on with it.

A real shame that Floyd isn`t cut from the same cloth.

I wish Sergio vs. Cotto, as I do for all fights, was undergoing random blood testing. The more, the better. No exceptions.

Thats all fine and dandy, at least he'll get to have the feeling of being the champ before the fight starts, with his demands of entering the ring last:yep

Yeah fighters like Pac and Floyd have the nerve to demand drug testing which has caught numerous fighters which banned substances. Shame on them.

Cotto has been a favorite of mine for a while and props to him for going for it. But don't get it twisted this is also a business decision. Turns down huge money for Canelo because he knows he can get the Canelo fight even when he loses to Martinez. It wouldn't happen the other way around. Watch cotto will fight Canelo after he loses.

I am following Cotto since the amateurs. I hope he wins. I used to see him running in Caguas long time ago. But I honestly have a bad feeling about this fight. I don't like it
