Watching Andy Lees and Georgie Keans performance last night and the fact that David Price and Nathan Cleverly left Booth after a few months do you think Booths lost it or was just incredibly lucky to meet David Haye and George Groves?
David Haye would of achieved plenty under any trainer he has natural talent. I think Booth is failing his recent recruits that's why they've left or are not performing well.
Yeah Billy he also managed to do it the other way and send Aydin back to obscurity "do perfect for me Selcurk", not a major shock also that Groves impressed many with a massively improved performance when he cut out the david haye performance Booth got lucky that a man like Haye turned up on his door step, the dark lord is more like Joe Dolce a massive one hit wonder, no shock that fellow one hit wonder the teletubbie(not cos he is fat because they had a one hit wonder also)Billy Nelson is defending him here against the obvious
Booth always did seem a bit clueless about boxing tactics. Haye had his explosive power working in his favour, anyone who took him past the first few rounds gave him trouble.
I don't think there was any luck in it or he has lost it. Both Haye and Groves share a common trait of being very smart- both are intelligent guys and I think Booth looks for that in fighters and hence is quite selective with who he takes on. In interviews w booth you can see how much emphasis he places on the psychological sides of fighting and not everyone can be trained that way With Clev and Price there is a common theme there of boxers with clear ability but suffering with some mental issues that are prohibiting them from reaching the levels they should be at- with both booth saw something he might be able to work with and add some value to as a trainer. Cleverly has a maths degree so clearly has brains, but he has some issues in other areas and it obviously didn't work out as expected Booth is a class trainer and will be back in time with another world champ once he has found someone he thinks he can work with again
Price made it clear it was the amount of money Booth wanted or he would have stayed. Groves has made it clear this was the case as well.,
Booth has always struck me as thinking he is bigger than the fighters. Seems a bit arrogant with it and no surprise he is asking for a big cut of the fighters purses.
