Chris Eubank comes to mind. He dug so deep against Nigel Benn in 1990 and Michael Watson in their rematch. He also thrived in a hostile atmosphere - Germany for G.Rocchi fight, a seething Berlin crowd.

Harry Greb without a shadow of a doubt...Throughout his career the amazing Greb
fought opponents much bigger than he,spotting them 10-30 pounds, and get this, fighting great Hall of Famers, as Gene Tunney, Tommy Loughran, Tommy Gibbons,
Kid Norfolk, Mickey Walker etc, with but ONE EYE, during the last 6 or so years of his career. Think of the courage it required to get into the ring against bigger great fighters knowing that an injury to your remaining eye would leave you BLIND and helpless in front of your opponent and audience....What cujones this our greatest and bravest fighter had.!!!

With Eubank, not to mention fighting sensationally against a 210+lb, ripped to shreds Carl Thompson with one eye closed early both times and arguably robbed twice!

Also the way he came storming back against Joe Calzaghe after being floored heavily in the opening seconds and put under ridiculous pressure - very close to stopping Calzaghe in the dying seconds with an incredible right hand off the ropes! He already showed how dangerous he was off the ropes against Ray Close in Glasgow when a six-inch uppercut lifted Close off his feet and dropped him heavily to save his title.

Or against Henry Wharton when he was predicted to lose to Wharton's pressure and under fire from the press for his shocker in Sun City. Threw every combination imaginable at Wharton for nine rounds straight until he knew it was safely in the bag.

Or the way he nearly punched Collins out of the ring within seconds of the bell for the 10th after being informed the scorecards were closer than he thought. If not for the fatal outcome of the adversity-overcoming Watson return match win, he would've stopped Collins there and then.

Chris Eubank was so excellent to watch at his best, when under adversity!

Yeah, but his career was essentially over at 28. He stopped fighting then.

Ali getting his jaw broken against Norton in 1973, then getting beaten up for 12 rounds, but he never quit:-(

Ali also said he felt close to death in his 1975 fight against Frazier, never heard a boxer make a remark like that..

Ali also had to fight Liston blind in their 1st fight, because Liston oiled his gloves because he knew he was going to lose...:yep

Ali also had his 3 best years taken from him by the ****ing Government...

Don't think any boxer in history has went thru as much adversity as Ali did, not to mention fighting Holmes with Kidney problems...:verysad

When I think of guys fighting with monstrous head wounds and bruising I tend to think of Arturo Gatti and Gene Fullmer. Daniel Zaragoza was bleeding from both eyes against Paul Banke in their second fight. Pawel Wolak's eye was grotesque in that first fight with Delvin Rodriguez. Also, the first Pacquiao vs Marquez bout where Marquez broke his nose and went down three times in the first round. Who was that guy who KO'd his opponent with the broken or dislocated arm? That took guts. Also, there was a Tommy Morrison fight where both fighters had broken noses, hands, ribs.

I can remember Danny Williams fighting some guy when his right shoulder horrendously popped.
He refused to quit despite his corners protestations, fought on one handed and knocked the guy out with a mighty left hook.

Riddick Bowe against Golota, he was dropped, had the **** beaten out of him and even punched in the balls multiple times, but Bowe never quit and instead, he made Golota quit.

    Matthew Saad Muhammad:

Decked by both Billy douglas and Richie kates and came back to knock out his opponent.
Cut to pieces by Marvin johnson and John conteh and came back to beat both opponents
Had the crap kicked out of him Yaqui lopez twice and came back to stop his opponent
Was being clearly outpointed by Vonzell Johnson and Murray Sutherland and came back to stop both opponents. Thus the nickname, Miracle Matthew.

Yes indeed. His life was being threatened prior to the second Liston fight.

Angelo Dundee admitted before he died that the Liston blinding didn't happen.

Ali's mouth cost him three years of his career. If he hadn't ran his mouth about it, he would have been granted conscientious objector status like thousands of other men were.
